What nation to play to learn maps?
Hi, so I'm somewhat mid tier with the big 3 (4.0 america, 4.0 Germany and 6.3 russia) but I've noticed that my performance in game is pretty lacking, likely due to quite a big lack of map knowledge.

So instead of throwing my expensive tanks and CAS into the meatgrinder and struggling to make SL profits, I thought about starting with a new faction now that I have decent knowledge in strengths and weaknesses of Tanks from the big 3.

I don't plan on going past the WW2 era because I find that time period the most exciting, so late game repair costs might not be a factor.
I thought about going italy because i heard that they put big emphasis on mobility and flanking. Next to that maybe Sweden and/or China.

Cheers

I don't understand the correlation between the tank you play and learning the map, but other than that Russia has the most well rounded tech tree

I vaguely see it? Maybe the best country with the most varied vehicles so you can have variety when learning.

When it comes to that, any of the big three: US, Germany, Russia. Should be fine.

Not nation specific but try to pick light tanks that are really fast so you can get around faster to learn the maps. That or pick a B1 biz and leisurely stroll through at like 3MPH and lollygag as you learn the map ignoring most of the carnage around you lol.

I think you might want a fast-moving vehicle, a vehicle that would allow you the freedom to explore maps. That way, you get to know every nook and cranny, every hiding spot. You would be able to climb hills and see the vantage points from which vehicles can use to shoot. :steamhappy:

Yeah, I'd recommend playing a lot of 3.0-4.0 exclusively and grabbing a fast vehicle like the Puma, Concept 3 (Britain), or any M24 (probably this tank especially) and just rush around. The most important part of learning the maps is to see where players typically go and how fast they get there. Getting there fast yourself helps with that. Get as mid-map as possible, as fast as possible, then sit and watch. Don't worry about kills, just spot enemies and watch the battle play out. See the things players hide behind, look for where they got killed from, look at the spots they're targeting most. That sort of thing.

The M24 I recommend just because it can play as high as 6.3 or so, has a wide variety of tools (smoke, HE, smoke shells, spotting, speed with a decent gun, a .50 cal with wide traverse for AA work...). Just a good tank. I play the Japanese one specifically because its tier 3 so it counts for BP tasks. (also because the A6M2 Zero is so damn easy to land on ground maps. Nothing confuses a player more than a plane sitting on a cap in the middle of a city).

Yeah kinda confused by OP but from what I THINK hes saying I would recommend using Snipey factions to learn the snipey spots, and rushing factions to know the rush spots.

Germany Sweden and Britain come to mind for snipers

Italy Russia and America come to mind for rushers

Play France if you want to be different

Play Japan if you want to be handicapped.

Go private game with couple of your mates, and explore every corner and position
How well you can see from certain points, and how hard you can be spotted
It will be stress free and benefits both, you and your friends
