Is this cheating?
So the maps gives you a grid and a real size of the grid. Using basic math and cartography, you can get a really accurate distance of something. I use the 2S3M a lot because it's really good at distances, so this method is really useful for long maps. Is this allowed? After all, this takes time but results in almost perfect aim at long range without laser rangefinder.

[EDIT]: Just in case someone wants to use it, you take a ruler, take a calculator (with memory if possible) and do this:
1) At the start of the match, use the M map to measure one grid square (mm recommended)
2) Divide the real size of the square (m if possible) by the size you got and store the result on the memory. If you could't save it, it's just a constant, remember it or write it somewhere.
3) Put a marker on the target, press M and measure the distance to the marker with the ruler
4) Multiply it with the previous constant and done, you got the distance in meters

I mean not using artillery, but using a calculator and a ruler to get distances

Gaijin would honestly ban you for advantage play because it has become clear they dont know how math actually works.
This is just a nerd moment tbh

It would be really dissapointing from them as they provided with the tools to do it, as the first commenter said

probably, but an advantage after all. And to be honest, at the end of the day, I'll sleep without any worries about it. I've been really critisize for being so nerd and I'm really alone because of that, but those are things that people will often treat as a bad thing, just because I know things... anyways, this is not a dramatic post, but just to clear out that being a nerd is actually good

You haven't been around long enough to experience all the fun ways they've found to ban people for things "left in the game". People pay good money to have darts and laser rangefinders.

well I've been long enough to see things that Gaijing should get banned for

Not cheating.

You're really not using any actual cheat here, you just got smart and uses tools you already had.
do you actually need rulers for that ? game gives you how long a grid square is in spawn screen... its not as accurate as calculating with tools but it works well with Panzerwerfer 42

This
Ive always done that using what it says on the map

I tried to calculate range and use it to angle shots and land mortars from my hedgehog matilda when that was first introduced. Then I realized teh grids are different sizes on different maps. Also realized you cant use arty at the same distance on all maps.

It is not cheating. Artillery units before the days of cheap computing actually carried calculators and other equipment.

I also count grid squares. Nothing unusual in all this. It is a time-honoured practice. :steamhappy:
