Joystick Help please?
Im using an original microsoft sidewinder, and I really do not know how to set this thing up. All the controls I try to adjust make it do odd stuff. Can anyone give a good configuation, thanks.

There are several guides on the Official War Thunder forums, as well as on YouTube. This thread is a quick one: http://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/51584-frb-joystick-setup-tips/?hl=joystick%20setup

Explanation of what the settings do: http://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/10815-axis-and-sensitivity-settings-for-controllers-explained/

Is there any specific guide for the Sidewinder? I can't seem to find anything. It seems the stick has a two axis on the stick and the throttle counts as a single axis. Plus when I think it is all good it takes off and the yaw forces it to go right and up at the same time since there are only 2 axis instead of 4 on the stick compared to others. Is there a config file for the sidewinder that I could use?

People seem to be saying that they are having no issues with that joystick, so I can't find any guides on it specifically, but I've found some discussions about it, such as this http://forum.gaijinent.com/index.php?/topic/8041-microsoft-sidewinder-force-feedback-2-joystick-work-here/

Other than that, I don't know how to help any further =/

Okay thanks for the information man. It's not the Sidewinder 2 its the original, I have a Hotas X ordered and this only cost me $5 at a garage sale so it's not that big of a deal. Thanks again.

I actually stopped playing WT after the 1.37.

Not sure what was done to stick handling, but my painstakingly created previous configuration ended up all in shambles. It could not compete with mouse and keyboard even before the update, but afterwards it was like fighting hydraulics failure...

Could not figure out a decent sensitivity settings the few times i tried tinkering with it. Gave up.

For the record, I was using Microsoft Sidewinder Pro (ye olde stick of yore) - absolutely nothing fancy.

It's a real shame there's no love for sticks - for me, they make or break a flight sim.

I managed to get my original Microsoft Sidewinder working but I can't yaw with the stick and need to use buttons. I've heard the HOTAS X should be fine, and if it still has issues I'm just going to move to DCS world.

A joystick that many use atm is the Logitech 3d pro. It's under $50 if you're looking to upgrade to something newer =3
