Otherwise have fun playing for at least 2000 hours
When you get the Tiger, don't trust your armor. It's flat so if you aren't angled, T-34-85s and Sherman 76s will knock you out without any problem. You have to angle it like a diamond. A Angled Tiger is difficult to defeat. Panthers have terrible side armor and slow turrets. Always fight at long range using your amazing gun to your advantage. Also, don't overestimate the armor of the Tiger IIs, they have weak spots and they can be defeated from the front, especially the P variant. Again, stay at range as much as possible.
That should get you started.
Spade every vehicle at every rank before moving on to the next one, the RP bonus for completing mod ranks cannot be ignored, especially at higher tiers.
Beyond that, Stay at 3.7 4.7 5.7 and 6.7 as long as you can when you get to those BRs. Anything beyond 6.7 is going to be a struggle until 10.3 so try to hold off on it until you are ready.
First things first, great job picking a nation that I assume you like (this is a problem some new players have as they don't even know where to start but show up asking how to proceed which doesn't go well as we don't have a foundation to build off of with you.)
From what you said it seems the main concern is just staying F2P for as long as possible or indefinitely, I personally made it to top tier with Germany with a F2P account so I'll share 2 tips:
1 - Don't just play germany, one of the big problems new players have is that they focus all their attention on 1 tree and that will actually screw them over, play 2 or 3 trees, make germany your focus and then pick either Russia or America as your second or pick both. Doing this will allow you to learn the majority of the vehicle you will see in matches inside and out and give you a better idea of what each vehicle can pen, how much damage it can deal and how much it can take. Additionally this will create additional lineups that you can play to grind SL to buy vehicles for your main tree. Starting out I would try to grind out rank 1 and 2 and then when you hit rank 3 with germany start to lay off on your other trees and shift to mainly focusing on germany, by the time you get to rank 4 you should just barely start having a couple of rank 3's in the other tree(s). The main goal is to learn what you are fighting until you are competent enough at the game to adapt on the fly (which is something you should start being able to do as you move on from rank 3) and you are using those other trees to grind SL so you can pay for repairs, modules and new vehicles in your main tree (which means you don't buy many modules for the other tree(s) vehicles and you don't pay for repairs for those vehicles and instead let them auto repair in the back ground. If you don't know, by default the game is set up to make you pay repairs the second the match ends but you can turn that feature off by cliking the check box next to the wrench symbol on your hot bar in the hangar screen.).
2 - set a bank balance. Normally new players will try to buy everything the second they can and constantly play the game with their SL as close to 0 as possible, this is bad for emergency expenses and can make necessary purchases rather trouble some such as paying for repairs for the vehicles in your main lineups for Germany. So set a bank balance, or what is called a 0 balance, for rank 1 this could mean having 5k SL in the bank and treating 5k SL as 0 and never buying anything unless absolutely necessary, basically turning 5k into a wall that you don't cross unless you have a damn good reason to, buying new vehicles, loot boxes or modules is NOT a good reason. When you get to rank 2, work to make the 0 balance 20k, then 50k by the time you reach rank 4 and as you get to rank 5 and above you should be earning enough SL each battle to pay for your lineup and buy new vehicles or modules without needing a 0 balance, if you do find yourself still needing that 0 balance buffer when you are at or above rank 5, come back to the forum and tell us what your lineup is and ask for some tips, we can help you streamline your lineup and figure out how to get the most out of your vehicles at that point in time, and yes you will also find some of us making fun of you for being poor, it's the internet and too be expected.
Now for my rough time line for when I was doing germany as I used the knowledge here but went quite a bit further with it that I recommended in the paragraphs above:
I didn't just play germany, I played every nation, I focused a lot of my attention on germany because I wanted the Tiger which is also part of my name sake in game (Ruse Tiger) but I made an effort to play everyone else so that I could learn every single vehicle in the game inside and out, every plane I died to, every tank I shot at, I would find it in the tree and then play it, figure out how it worked and how to beat it consistently. I also didn't have a 0 balance of 5k at rank 1, I had a 0 balance of 20k but I was playing every tree so... and by the time I got done with rank 3 my 0 balance was 500k and I started pushing it higher and higher slowly as I knew I was going to be getting the Leopard 2PL at some point and that was about 1.3 million to buy and crew if I remember correctly. Additionally once I got to rank 3 with every nation I started main lining germany and basically did a speedrun to rank 5 in preparation for unlocking the Leopard 2PL as I wanted to have access to a helicopter to fly with it (heli's are unlocked at rank 5 and at that point you can either grind them out or use your RP from your tanks to grind them instead, which is recommended as their rewards to performance ratio is really bad even though they are quite fun, the Tank RP for heli's thing didn't exist when I got to rank 5 a few years ago though, it's a recent addition to make things more enjoyable for new players.). And after about 600 hours I reached rank 7 and finished the german tree for me (that time also includes the all nations rank 3 grind), today the grind is around 550-700 hours for a F2P player, back then it was between 400-600 hours assuming you were moderately competent at playing the game. So it is a lot of work to reach rank 8 (rank 7 was the top rank but it has since been increased) but it is certainly do able for a F2P player, especially if they plan ahead a little bit and put in the work to better prepare themselves for success rather than just barely making it by the skin of their teeth.
I hope this helps a bit and as for the other comments I would highlight these 2:
This^ is incredibly useful, but bare in mind that it will make this take longer even if it does give you more things to play with so you will be finishing germany in closer to 600+ hours and also keep in mind that you should only do it for germany, don't do it for the other trees until you are ready to commit to them and grind them out once you feel like you are done with germany.
This is a huge issue, as you are pretty deep into the game and do have habits built up so not only are you trying to learn how to do well as a free to play player but also need to find which habits are helping and hindering you and address them, for example rushing to caps in heavy german vehicle might seem like a good idea but in reality they do better following other players to caps or camping near by and in both cases providing heavy fire support for their teammates. Obviously I don't actually know what habits you have right now but thats just a basic example. And you can also follow Chaoslink's example a bit and play lower BR's to get better and better at the maps and understanding ranges and finding good positions or play styles in preparation for rank 5 where you start to see a lot of heli's and more advanced vehicles which will punish your lack of game knowledge while you are still trying to learn how to use your new tank/aircraft. Playing lower BR's will also help you earn more SL to save up for future purchases, kind of like me purchasing the Leopard 2PL though in that case it was more circumstance and timing that dictated I save up at a lower BR but the general idea still holds water.
Germany is S and click, kinda like france but you actually accomplish something.
