War Thunder has very good optimisation for Lower end PCs. You can actually select an option for Old Video Cards, and even on the lowest graphics, the game still looks very decent. WoT has terrible optimisation...

WOT runs on a really old and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ engine and still has poor optimisation, recent updates made me have to downgrade the graphics even more to keep the performance the same. War thunder definitely looks much better. As for gameplay you really shouldn't compare the two, one is a competitive multiplayer game that is largely teamwork/skill based, while war thunder is more of a simulation than anything. Kind of like comparing CS:GO to ARMA for the lack of a better analogy. Hell, they're both free games, what do you mean when you ask which one to pick? Try them both. Also, WOT probably has a much larger playerbase than WT

WOT can run well on minimum graphics too by the way, its optimisation is only ♥♥♥♥♥♥ when you want the "improved" graphics

so tell me soemtihng

you compared WT to WOT wtih comparing cs:go to arma, that a really really really big gab, the only thing those 2 games has in common is guns

so in wt a game taht takes a hell of time to get used to ?

No. Getting used to WT and WoT is pretty simple.
WT shines in air combat which isn't available in wot (wowp is different game, and in wowp/wt choice I would definitely pick wt). If you compare tank gameplay than main differences i see in WOT:
- no lifebar, you lose machine if most of your crew dead or machine destroyed (ammo racked or engine on fire for some time)
- available aviation

But WT have playable tanks only for half of year while WoT have it for 4 years. So WoT have more tanks, maps, more polished gameplay and better (mostly) balance.
So if you only searching for tank battles than you should check both and see for yourself, but if you want play planes or both then you should get WT.

Сoncerning performance on old PC's they both plays ok on low settings.

uuuuuummmm i do not know what you have had experience with but WT is unstable at points and plus you have to add the bad servers that every one knows and loves and the gaem WOT is not much better but in my experience ( With a very bad computer ) it is over all better and runs smoother adn the server connection is over all better

I run WT planes at 35 to 60 FPS on my 6 year old zombie PC. I have some issues with the tanks that keep me from playing those, but I like planes more anyway.

I cant even get WoT to update anymore, and when I played it lagged so bad the game eventually crashed. Even when it did work, it was trouble and death by lag or freezes was a fairly frequent occurance for me.

WoT has more players, but WT certainly runs better.

I've played both games and i have to say WT took the lead when it came to gameplay for me. Even arcade battles in WT are more realistic than random battles in WoT. I simply do a lot better in WT than WoT, but that's just me. I like the fact that I can one shot kill a Pz IV with my T-34-85, not so much in WoT. You'd have to be extremely lucky to one shot kill a Pz IV with a T-34-85. If this helps, I'm glad it did.

I get about 15-20 FPS on WOT And on WT i can get upto 60

Yeah go for WT, you may need to adjust your setting a little bit for tanks, but for airplanes you get good FPS.

I can second that. i used to be able to play WoT at 40+ FPS at improved, now (mostly due to inserted fluff like birds and flyover planes) im lucky to get 30 at standard.

While on the same machine i run WT at 75 FPS (on low i have to admit, but still).
You can get even better if you render lower and use old graphicscard option...
