British bombers I don't have a lot of experience with. The low tier ones are pretty good asthey go against biplanes and other early fighters. The Wellingtons aren't very good afaik, since their turrets don't have very good fields of fire.
Japanese bombers are interesting. many of them are highly manouverable, and some have cannons in the tail. In general they are pretty fragile but manouverable. There are 2 japanese heavy bombers, the G5N1 is awful, it has crappy guns, a poor bombload and wallows around the sky. The G8N1 is better, with lots of 20mm turrets and good speed (however it is still pretty fragile).
Russian Bombers are a mixed bag since there's so many of them. The low tier ones like the SBs have really powerful mgs and are pretty durable, albeit slow. The mid to late tier bombers all have the capacity to carry huge bombs, which makes them pretty devastating in ground forces battles. The Russians also have a wide selection of divebombers. One's such as the IL2s can carry a lot of rockets and bombs, whilst you've also got the PE series which can carry larger bombs.
The German bombers aren't the best. The He 111s are pretty bad, they have poor defenses, small bombs, are slow and huge targets. The Ju88 is better, but doesn't have a very good bombload either. The Do217s however are awesome. Manouverable, the can carry 4x1000kg bombs, which are fantastic in ground forces battles. They get the divebomber reticule as well, so aiming the bombs is easier. The 217s also have decent speed and rear guns that can occasionally snipe enemy pilots. A coup;le of the variants also come with a single 20mm controlled by the pilot. This can't do much, but it means once you've dropped your bombs, you can attack AAA, artillery, or enemy bombers. You aren't super agile like a fighter, but you can still harass the enemy, perhaps allowing your team to come in and kill the fighter you're chasing.
You mean the Mitchell?
It is one of the BEST planes I have EVER flown. Check my stats - It is a bomber and fighter hunter - I can EASILY take down anything that comes my way - be it head-on or behind me, they die.
I have a decent payload as well.
Don't listen to this troll.
Yesterday I was playing a match and had 3 planes following my tail while I was bombing targets, and switching back to my mg. The MG AI took out one enemy plane, and then I took out another all while dropping bombs and killing a few ground targets. The third one eventually shot me down slowly but I kept bombing as I fell lol. My plane had so many bullet holes it was crazy.
Rico isn't trolling, he/she has clearly had bad experiences in the B25, which is because of the way bombers act now. They no longer are as durable as they once were.
As I said, all bombers are a lot weaker now, so the B25s durability advantages aren;t really very noticeable any more. It's still beta though, so I can hope they change it back. I haven't flown it much recently, but it was for sure one of my favourite planes, with great frontal armament and decent rear guns. my only major gripe with it was the bombload. I flew the B25 pretty much exclusively in RB and can say that Russian fighters with their big guns are dangerous to practically every bomber, that's not the bomber's fault. There's quite a lot of threads talking about how those particular yaks shouldn't be in the game, although I can't really give an accurate opinion on that since I'm not a historian.
Yeah taking bombers later on in an arcade match tends to work better for me too, since most fighters are by that stage engaged in a low altitude furball. The SBs are pretty good aircraft, they are durable at their tier and their mgs are really powerful and fast firing. I've had a lot of success using it in groundforces maps, since it can usually deal with stukas and early 109s that it faces. In arcade it can be even more deadly, since it often faces biplanes or really early monoplanes (which often have only a few light mgs). At later tiers though bombers face fighters with lots of 20mm and 30mm cannons, which can rip them apart. I agree though that flying bombers can be a really fun experience.
