Best Ammo for the M16 Motor Gun Carriage?

So what is the best ammo for:
1. Fighting/killing/Penetrating tanks
2. Fighting/killing Planes or bombers
3. General ammo that is good overall for fighting both

I really don't get the whole apti-api-it jbfdsbhubeajdashbjbv types of ammo and what they do. Just gimme the jist plz.

Just take API for everything. Best penetration power, incendiary element to set stuff on fire, and a few tracers so you see where you're shooting.

If you want more shot visibility at the cost of 1mm of penetration power, you can also use API-T.

Just got off the game right now so I cant look it up, but, API=Default starting ammo right?

No, it's the first ammo type you can research. The default ammo is a mix of I, AP, API, and API-T. Not too shabby, but half the ammo either penetrates poorly (I) or has no incendiary element (AP). API (first research option) and API-T (last research option) ammo belts get rid of these types.

It's the same on the M13 and M15 AA trucks, by the way, as they use the same MGs and ammo.
