Torpedo and speed.
Ahoi.

I play realistic and I am trying to wipe out enemy ships with my beaufighter, I got a 690 KG torpedo, the problem is, it always says Torpedo drowned.... I drop my Torpedo usually at 40 feet altitude and with a speed of 150 mp/h.

So, how much more do I have to slow down ?

It says Drop speed range 0-281km/h, Drop altitude range 0-105m, so you're within the limits I'd think. Don't know if you got an indicator in RB, is your angle flat enough? Do you lead your target correctly? I guess if you lead too much or not enough, the torpedo runs its course and drowns.

Personally I've never been a fan of torpedos, I find bombs so much easier to use.

Yeah, I fly as vertical as I can.

Exactly what you shouldn't be doing, or you're using the wrong terminology. When it says "torpedo drowned", it means you either dropped it going too fast, too high, or at the wrong angle of attack.

War Thunder, being War Thunder, also lets you just throw torpedoes directly into boats. It works, I swear.

e: Based on the mass of the torpedo you're trying to use, it sounds like you're flying RAF/RN planes. British torpedoes are kind of awful.

Drop them straight in to the ship ?

While I wouldn't do that in any sort of real-life attempt at using WW2 air-dropped torpedoes or in an accurate simulation of torpedo bombing, War Thunder just lets you drop the torpedo directly into the side of a boat with maximum effect.

Did you know they also have skip bombing modeled? I can't say I'm surpised, it was a feature in IL-2 1946, Cliffs of Dover, and Wings of Prey.

What ? I am confused.

first mistake is using torpedo on a beaufighter. use the rockets, you can kill 2 ships per loadout, and you don't have to worry about speed or alt. This is a beaufighter specific post.

You can't kill a destroyer with the whole load of rockets, forget it.

it should say when you hover over the torpedo loadout in the mod menu the spec (what alt to drop at and what speed ect...)

Torpedo. War Thunder.

Does not compute.
