No Swastika Logos On German Planes...Why?
I don't see why the warthunder devs would replace the swastika with an X. It isn't like they are trying to offend anyone witha historical symbol.

Yeah, this is the reason. It may be a little unfortunate for historic purposes in a historic based game, but at least it allows those who wouldn't be allowed to play, to play without any concerns. Of course, you can use Player made skins from the live site, which only you can see. Some of these historical skins do have Swastikas, but again, as only you can see it, it effects no one else.

Ah, that makes sense...at least they could put the Axis symbol on them instead of giant X's

They already have the Balkenkreuz on the wings, adding it onto the rudder would be a bit IMHO.

They could, but the axis cross is used on some planes historically as well. So, if they simply replace the Swastika with those Axis symbols, some planes would have a considerable amount, and some wouldn't be able to distinguish between where a swastika 'would' have been, and where an axis symbol would have been.

That black 'x' clearly indicates that a swastika would have been there.

That is my point, in Heroes and Generals, they use something similar, but a fancier version than the normal cross.

They could just have "censored" and "uncensored" versions of War Thunder. The uncensored version contains, well, uncensored stuff...(swastikas, bewbs, etc) And the censored version would be just like the way the game is now.
Problem is that Russia is one of the countries that bans the swastika and Gaijin is based in Russia. They can't get around it at all.

The "X" you speak of is the symbol for the Wehermacht, the german army. It is not connected to the nazi party, due to those idiots making a mess over in europe. It just is supposed to represent a COUNTRIES planes, not a Nazi governed state's planes.

But wasn't the Wehrmacht the Nazi's army? For example, the Heeresadler was a decal on the Wehrmacht's infantry helmet...which is the same symbol that the Nazi's used.

Swastika is illegal in Germany too. Military figures of German troops (even SS) are not allowed to contain swastikas or SS emblems. German collectors have to purchase armbands and insignia from US or Japanese dealers if they want the figure to be historically accurate.

Yes, they were. I'm talking about the + symbol they had, that they also have on TONS of their stuff.

It's an ideology issue. Nazi's used the old symbol of the swastika an everything and made it to a symbol for every crime they comited.

Sure, the Wehrmacht was their "tool" but in the end, it was a numbers-game -> the cross was not that tainted as the swastika.

For non-germans it is hard to understand this but it was one way to get rid of the political beliefs of the nazi partie. By the way, in Germany and Austria the Hitler salute is a punishable offense.

This makes perfect sense to me. The Wehrcacht werent neccisarily connected to the Nazis, but they were just the armed forces in the country at the time.
Vandalen Jan 24, 2015 @ 7:56am
Well, Wehrmacht members did very disgusting crimes, that's fact. But of course not everybody was a criminal.
GoreTiger Jan 24, 2015 @ 1:14pm
There is really no reason to have a swastika in the game. It's "historical" factor in-game is very small. And most of the time you see swastika's in game its little teenage snotbags trying to be edgy with it.

If they put swastika's in game every 13yr old 4chan user would have hundreds of them slapped around their planes/tanks.
