Tiger VS Shermans or anything USA tank of that time
Tally ho,

So i lot long been to see the movie "Fury" a world war 2 based tank movie which features a sherman.

SPOLIER WARNING!
In the movie there is a scene where 3 shermans fight 1 tiger.

It bouces every single hit from the front before one sherman gets behind and even then it takes 2 shots!

and i watched and read documentaries where it required at least 6 shermans to kill 1 tiger!

so then, will the tiger be mighter than the sherman in this game.

Only time will tell.

many thanks for reading.

Yes, indeed it will.
The German tanks were far superior, however were vastly outnumbered. This is where the American strengh lay.
Also, lets not forget Firefly Shermans were quite a capable little machine.

It's not an inaccurate result, but it heavily depends on the circumstances. What types of Shermans were fighting the Tiger at which range, for instance.
The early models of the Sherman were armed with a 75mm gun that was pretty much incapable of penetrating the armour of a Tiger frontally even at very close range.
But the sides and rear of the Tiger were still vulnerable to this gun at decent ranges up to some 650m or so.

And then there's the later models of the Sherman like the American one armed with an improved 76mm gun, as well as the British Sherman Firefly variant with a 17pder gun. Both of these were fully capable of knocking out Tigers frontally at usual combat ranges up to and exceeding 1km.

Don't rely on stuff like that. This 5:1, 6:1 etc. ratio is just a myth.

Generally speaking, yes. It will probably wipe the floor with the 75mm-armed Shermans as long as it doesn't get flanked, and as long as the player keeps its distance to counteract any APCR ammunition or whatever Gaijin might throw in. But once you see the upgraded Sherman variants, the Tiger meets its match.

As for other US tanks out there: There's a number of them you can expect to see who will be able to fight Tigers effectively: The M10 and M18 bring the same 76mm gun as the later Sherman variants, and the M26 and M36 even bring a 90mm gun to the battle, and the M26 is generally a tough match for the Tiger. And those are all just the vehicles that actually went into full production and saw combat action during the war.
Next to these, there's also a good deal of heavy tank prototypes that were not accepted in the end, and never saw action, like the T29, T30, T32, and T34. If Gaijin really needs a match for the Tiger II, they might go and include some of these. Obviously, they'd wipe the floor with a normal Tiger.

I just hope they keep it real because its Gaijin we are talking about.
American tanks were designed as infantry support vehicles like early war German tanks were. Remember trying to grind out of the horrible 20mm Pzfw? The US didn't design tanks with tank-to-tank combat as their first priority.

Grinding them out? I beg to differ. T1 germany rocks. The only time it doesn't is when you fight the T-60... That beautiful peice of AA gun.
Not tier one. The reserve tank. I always got matched with Stugs, whose armor I could not penetrate and other well-armored, heavy-hitting tanks. The rest of tier one Germany is pretty nice.

Nah mate. I rocked with the reserves.
even before you got the good armor piercing ammo?
My bad. It's the one with the 20mm cannon.

20mm cannons are full on worthless unless it's the T-60
the tigers a tier ahead of where the shermans will probably be and will never fight unless tis a custom battle.

It would be cool to see modes like "Kill The Tiger" where its a few tigers or some other high tier heavy vr a bunch of lower tier tanks. That would be fun as hell

Tigers also fight Panzer IVs and T-34s, don't they? That's where you'll probably see a good deal of Sherman models, too.

Depends entirely on what Battle Rating they give the Shermans. Anyone know which model of Sherman that is in the German tree? The captured one?

As for the one in Fury, according to wikipedia it was an M4A3E8 Sherman, the "Easy Eight" with the 76mm gun.

Knowing how they program at Gajiin I'd say they are going to Nerf the Sherman.. It will be a piece of paper and won't stand up to any tank.. All Russian tanks will be superior.. just like in the game today.. so take comfort in that..

I like the sound of your idea! sounds good to play with friends.

An M4A2 with the standard 75mm gun, I think.
