*What* you hit determines the effect on the tank.
Get a critical hit and set a plane on fire, awesome. Get a critical hit and Damage their left landing gear, woopty freakin doo....
LOL...ok, thanks.
The more tanks people drive, the better players will get a feel for strengths & weaknesses, and makes for better players.
Critical hits mostly just signify destroyed modules. You might have critically hit a view port. I think I've done that a couple times.
If you really want to make an M6 driver have a bad day, go to the sides and plow your shells above the tracks and behind the turret. Armor is only something like 40mm thick, and you're shooting straight through a fuel tank, into the engine bay, and sometimes even into the engine block.
In all honesty. It's an M6 Heavy Tank for a reason.
You can critically damage a driver, the cannon breech, or the fricking fuel gauge. Get over it.
Engine and fuel tank hits usually wont do anything, most of the time they just keep driving like nothing happend, just yesterday I shot Tiger I into engine from behind with 114 penetration aphe (Stug III G) and shrapnel hit both fuel tanks also, it was still driving away and it took four hits into back of his turret to kill him since I couldnt flank him with Stug.
Everyone else explained that critical hits are simply damaging any components, not necessarily ones that could keep the M6 from shooting back.
The thread wasn't asking about the durability of a Panzer IV, but just what critical hits represent.
The entire tank is one big weak spot. The turret face and much of its frontal armour are simply not thick enough to block much at that tier and the slightly angled flanks mean that angling your armour is not an option. Really a difficult tank to use, its only redeeming factor is the excellent cannon.
Reminds me of SPS-255 event... But yeah your amror can be penetrated with pretty much anything german gun factories have to throw at you.
maybe he's expecting the words " Finish HIM! ...Fatality! " to splash across the screen .... ;)
