MAUS Restrstion Project cancelled
“Central Museum of Armored Vehicles” of the Ministry of Defense of Russian Federation officially states, that the information of the restoration works on the tank “Maus”, which appeared in various mass media, is not true. It’s a perspective project, which is in the state of negotiations and approval. The Museum staff is outraged by the insolence, ignorance and absolute lack of patriotism of the employees of the aforementioned mass media.

The Museum will never prioritize the restoration of the German tank “Maus”, or any foreign tank to any of the Russian military anniversaries, let alone the Day of Victory celebration, which is the most important celebration for us. The restoration of the German tank is not “a great honor for us” as the journalists write, but a simple planned work. Restoration works on this projects, if they happen at all, will be carried out following the order of work.

Currently, the Museum, exclusively on its own, restores the legendary Soviet tank T-35 to be ready for the 70th Anniversary of the Great Victory, for which we are rightfully proud.

Furthermore, the information about our exclusive partnership with company Wargaming is not true. An “exclusive” partnership with any organization is out of the question, as the Museum is a public institution, that in the past cooperated and always will cooperate with all organizations and institution for the good of our Motherland within the framework of joint projects and programs, aimed at the Museum development, patriotic education and prevention of historical facts falsification.

With kind regards
Administration of the Museum”

Go Russia!!!!

This is the most patriotic statement I have ever seen.

its also months old, and was a knee-jerk reaction of one of the employees - you can read the whole story on ftr

Go Russia!!!!

Since this tank is property of Germany, they should send it back to Germany ! Germans had to send back captured tanks, so they should do the same and not just hold it there. It's history!

1) It is the property of Russia, one of the victors of the second world war. Germany had its military inventory split between the allies because they lost.

2) It may not be physically possible to move the Maus, it is 188 tonnes after all. I don't know if there is a trasporter capable of carrying that.

If you think that the Maus makes Germany look good then you don't know much about tanks. It is a joke that, even if it had been finished, would have been of no use whatsoever.

This is a pile of crap !!! I remember Germans being ordered to Russia to remove German tanks and weapons, but when it comes to the MAUS it is not German property anymore ? Come on !

Also, it is not how a war in this time worked. It was and still is German property. Google for it if you don't believe it.

Not saying it would make Germany look good, and I do know enough about tanks to know the Maus was another one of those stupid late-war German weapons. To heavy to cross most bridges, would've gotten stuck in every bit of wet ground, etc, etc.

But what kind of museum just "cuts out" the stuff that doesn't pertain to yourself? Here in the US, our museums usually cover both sides. The revolutinary war ones have the british guns and uniforms along with US muskets and ships. I've been to historical sites in the south, and they have places both "heres where the south kicked the north's ass" and vice versa. We have german panzers, NVA T-62s, hell, at an airport about 20 miles from where i live theres a display of 5 planes (Mig-15, Sabre, F-4, and two others i dont know, but they ain't American)

They probably used it as an argument ! They just don't have the cash to restore the Maus..A T34 is very easy restored, but not THE Maus.

What does the CIA or even the USA for that matter have anything to do with this? Last time I checked we didn't pull any ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like this. We listen to both sides at least and don't cancel one out just because it doesn't meet our nationalistic expectations.
