IS-4M vs MAUS

Perhaps I can get a little help deciding which one to choose. I really like what the Maus has to offer, high armour pen, and pretty good armor, but it's slow as hell, while the IS-4 is much faster, low armor pen for a t5 but great hull armor(Maus has better Turret armor though). I like the heavy playstyle of taking hits and dishing out damage, but I kinda don't want to be a turtle at the same time, so I can't decide. A little help from some experienced players?

it's not really the playstyle I prefer though. And if I were to go medium tank, i think i'd rather go for the panther as it's faster and has more pen

Trust me, T-54 1951 is the meta for tier 5 tanks, it is literally a god with the HEAT. Anyways, for your playstyle, don't do either. If you must, do the IS-4M, but, I'd suggest the M103 or the IS-3 x3

M103 has the best pen of them all if we're talking heavy tanks and tier 5's in general. HEAT at tier 5 I have found to be useless, at least for the M103's HEAT compared to the massive spalling the solid shot AP can do.. You may think the German 128 will perform better because of the explosive filler but, honestly not. In my experiences my M103's solid shot AP using spalling does more damage than I've ever dealt with received by any German gun. Although it also differs player to player in how they perform, I would also like to add that I don't die often in the M103 unless I make a stupid move and get myself flanked or go in alone. With its speed it can compete with the mediums in getting locations, of course far from being faster but, it gets around better than the others. Also even though the hull may be small, if you point it directly it is heavily sloped and proves well against most shots, especially at long range and the turret if you wiggle it makes it hard to hit the cheeks and the round make slide across the side of the turret on one of your movements. Happens a lot for me.
