Sounds like a decision born more of behavior they are seeing on the 'Russian' servers rather than 'American' servers. I personally have /never/ seen someone TK over a flag on someone's tank, or hell, even someone using a flag 'disrespectfully' but it could be a different story on servers where Ukrainians and Russians mix a lot.

Overall not something I can really full out agree with or say I'm happy about, but seeing as I never use the flags anyways it's not really a change that effects me. I do like the concept of unlocking flags based on account location though. That might be a nice alternative for those who just want to fly their nation's colors without shelling out 500 bloody eagles.

But then again, they make money off of this, so I doubt we'll be seeing any changes like that soon, if ever.

Sure, I get that. But Gaijin, a Russian company, understandably isn't going to have the finesse to deal with western customers. Russia is culturally more "what I say goes" than what we in the west are used to. For better or worse, it is what it is.

However, understand where Gaijin is coming from. Tensions regarding Ukraine/Russian relations are tense, it's a sore spot for both sides. An equivalent, for a western person to understand, would be like a few weeks after 9/11 some Pakistani player coming into a US server with "Death to America, Allahu Akbar" on his tank. That would seriously piss off a lot of people and it isn't funny. That is how Russian players might feel about this Ukrainian flag situation.

Making the flags a pay piece will hopefully cut down on this kind of abuse. We're all gamers, we all love War Thunder, we all want to play and enjoy ourselves and have fun - it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ that some people have to use it as a vehicle to spread their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ attitude and ruin someone's evening. Keep in mind, Gaijin could have said "all flags are gone, good job everyone on ruining your own fun," but at least this way people who really love their flags can still have them, and Gaijin can make a little money. The Russian economy is in bad shape, you know, now more than ever, they'll need their micro transactions.

or they could just ban the people abusing the decals and add more content instead of taking away something that was free and tied to peoples identity as a culture...

It's just silly all together, I don't know about you, but isen't it a little part of Russia's fault if they are being dragged into this? I would imagine getting teamkilled after dragging this 10km/h tank over half of the map, to get oneshotted from the spawn by a friendly would piss off alot of people, because tanks are slow, we play it over and over again, some dosen't have the mood or patient to just ''play his part'' and starts picking on others because they think its fun. I would get pissed for sure, but ''pissed'' dosent mean I will go and throw words around or kill them in return. That is something I learned, and it was not fun to learn and was also hard... Since we have repair kits, just blow up their tracks, engine or if you are experienced knock out more sever parts to make them unable to act for some time, and then quickly get out of there without getting anyone killed, including the tankcrew. This dose not mean we should, because it apparently costs ''silver lions'' to repair the tank afterwards, and to play one more match to get that single lion to buy that single tank is just a pain, I know. But its an alternative. ''They get what they deserve''. I'm saying this because this is how I would do, not all the time, but only when im just about too tired or ''bored'' of the constant loop of War Thunder.

Add a map filter, that would please me.
So don't play if you are tired, don't return fire on own comrades, dear Hans is just as dumb, but how could he know, that's how he is! Remember his good (bad) coffe? Oh dear Hans... Well... Atleast we respawn after the horrible encounter.


For thoose who cant get enough, there's custom battle, play serious in ''real battles'' the big so called ''Play'' button. Level up, grind, salvage, earn. Then get thoose hard-earned things into custom battle, to be r@ped, then you can troll around how much as you want.
(Gosh thoose jets sure does sound really fun)

I play on every server type, this behavior is either imagined or statisticaly insignificant.

I never encountered this on European servers, trying to stay away from Russian server, even tough they could be a alternative late in the night, they seem to organized so better not settle for long. You never know whats going on either, they may team up against you or something like that :P

I have noticed that there's more talk on Russian servers than European servers, atleast in most cases when I play.

For example, when I play

European Servers: 2/5 games.
Russian servers: 3-4/5 games.
It varies frome time to time tough.

Swastikas were used all over the world. From a symbol of luck in Asia to a symbol of the sun in Europe, the Greek used it to represent motion and at some point the Roman use it for some of their art. I don't think the Roman acutally use Swastikas on their Scutum(shield).

..and back to the topic of gaijin money grabbing because of national flags in tank games offending people..

I say tank games because in over a 1000 hours of flying I have never once seen anyone rage about another players flag decals.
And the only examples of team killing becasue of flags I have seen so far are from tank players.
