PD SRC: I believe this is the "Zero Doppler" filter that's available to the AWG-9. but not 100% sure on this. Great for finding targets, not so great for obtaining reliable locks. Only try to hard lock something that's close and will have little opportunity to evade your missile shot while in this mode. Perfect for targets coming straight on, horrible against targets doing anything else.
TWS: This mode is really only decent for AIM-54 guidance. If you attempt to hard lock from this mode, it uses the same guidance logic as PD SRC. Again, perfect for targets coming straight on, horrible against targets doing anything else.
SRC: Radar scan with no PD Filters. This is the best mode for all aspect Sparrow launches, but it leaves Sparrows vulnerable to Chaff. Use wisely.
PDV SRC: This mode is your standard PD scan using relative velocities that you're likely already familiar with from the AN/APG 59 radar sets. This is the most reliable PD lock mode for Sparrows, but naturally still vulnerable to Notch.
