We already know. Something new maybe?
But for lower tiers prop planes yak planes are all solid picks
LA and SU type planes are good fighters that can also have a good cannon for ground targets, IL versions have an excellent cannon for ground targets but also prove to destroy planes in the air, famous Mig-21 in various variants, SU-25 as CAS, Su-34 one of the best CAS, or famous Russian radar missiles, or IR missiles R-73, etc.
Personally, when I was grinding Russia, I played a lot of LA versions of planes 7-9, IL-10, SU-6, later SU-9, Mig-21, SU-25 and my favorite was also Mig-29 SMT until the modern Fox-3 arrived.
Everyone complains about the MiG jet series (9/15/17/19/21/23/29) and how powerful they are... until they try to master these aircraft themselves and swiftly and quietly slither back to their cozy hand-holding western technology. :D
Realistically, every single aircraft within the USSR tree is "capable" of something. You will find a majority of USSR prop aircraft to be a sort of "Jack of all Trades, master of none". Many of the aircraft wont excel in one specific area, but they wont have any major downsides either. This is great for a play-style that is able to adapt on a whim, but can be punishing if your enemy is a worthy opponent who knows the strengths of their own aircraft and how to use them. Aircraft such as the Yak and La series are amazing at capitalizing on your enemies mistakes due to this snappy adaptation style.
