War Thunder

Why is this game so bad lately?
Powercreep, terrible grind, horrible map design (+ re-designs of classic maps into garbage) and especially gamebreaking bugs like sound issues and rendering issues make this game into a self harm method.

Stupid map design is missing

Because all the long time players have found how futile it is to unlock the next vehicle in the mid to upper tiers. The next vehicle unlock will never give you an edge in a match, even the premium $70 vehicles fail to deliver.

Its basically Pokemon for military vehicle fans, gotta get them all...

because they are not capable and just pushing updates with copy paste vehicles until game dies thats the plan right now
Hello, My experience is the game has gotten better the last year or two. Before you have a cow let me explain. I am a naval main and naval had a major issue with scripted bots. Players recommended method of getting rid of these scripted bots that Gaijin adopted. The scripted bots were gone in just a few days. I do not speak to any issue out side naval because I don't experience them. I only play low level ground or air and would be speaking beyond my experience where I am clearly unqualified. As far as low level air or ground I am fully satisfied with my gaming experience. But I only go to BR 5.3-5.7 in ground and only fly BR 3.3 bombers in air (I fly higher BR planes in naval)
My assessment from following threads in the forum is the major issues are at higher ranks then i play so you will not find me in those threads.
I like fighting naval battles and War Thunder to me is simply a battle generator. That is all. I would look for some changes to certain missions or maps but over all I am content enough to continue.

Gaijin, that's why!

Gaijin has adopted an anti-fun direction over recent years when it comes to pretty much every aspect of the game. There are quite a few sadists playing War Thunder though, unfortunately, so they enjoy the fact that the grind is beyond insane, and that the balance is out of whack.

On top of all of that the lack of any new fun game modes other than PvP slaughter just adds insult to injury. Only reason they don't do this is because then people might actually be able to earn a decent amount of silver lions and research points in a fun and rewarding fashion, and Gaijin has made it very clear they do not want that.

I noticed...i play this game for the 9th year already. The game is well beyond past it's prime, i honestly believe that. Might i add, there is an incredible fall off in players, hype vehicles work temporarily but they'll run out. Once we're past Armata and F-22 the game will suffer enormous decline since nothing ''hype'' will come and the game will still be the same broken garbage with p2w mechanics.

Naval may have gotten better, but as a long time veteran the Ground RB and Air RB has gotten much, much worse over the last ~2-3 years.

Yeah new maps are mostly very bad design with dumb chokepoints all over.

Yet I'd say most tanks have become tougher so if you play the glass cannons or crappy cars like the AML you're going to have a bad time, but for regular tankers it's a better experience also CAS spam is harder now with the unbalanced wing as you drop 1 and everyone can shoot what you carry and you'll explode midair instead of bullying those tanks :)

honestly the biggest problem for the game. so many problems for both air and ground could be solved if we actually had good maps.

Even just consistent mediocre maps would be something.

The higher you go, the more problems with the maps. Top tier is almost unplayable unless you get one of the very few mediocre maps.
To keep it short and simple:

Game focused on quantity and not quality

Pretty much this..
Why? Because the money is in the shiny new super advanced vehicles.

also
why do we have Pzh 2000 and king tigers in the same battle? like what kind of joke is this?
i dont even play 6.7 anymore due to uptiers and powercreep

I seen many maps redesign after a while when it a cheesy spot and area that covers that hides flanking movement for one side. Making some maps first spotting and first fires wins. Than having a sniper camping spots that can be unbalance.

You mean the super advanced vehicles that lack pretty much the only thing that makes them what they are, their fire control systems?

Leopard 2A7V might just as well be a Panzer IV, fire control is the same and we're shooting pinpoint accurate across the whole map no matter the era.

And half the stuff isn't working right anyway. Either that, or someone needs to tell the military they can just stop developing APS because a top-attacking Spike can be stopped by a machine gun on the roof or some janky optic.
