R2Y2 Kai V3 gone from the tech tree despite having put RP into it

Because the R2Y2s were going to be removed from the tech tree, I researched and bought the first two (buying them in case this exact thing would happen), but I didn't manage to play enough to research the third one fully, though I did put some RP into it.

According to the article about the removal of these vehicles, I should still be able to continue researching the plane later.

However, this isn't the case and the vehicle is gone.

It was explicitly stated I would be able to continue researching the plane, yet I can't, and I feel deceived.

Is this an issue for everyone across the board?
