Is HEATFS on U.S 6.7-7.0 unreliable or just bad?
This might be a skill issue on my part but I swear lately HEATFS has become increasingly difficult to get killshots with. I can reliably pen most things side on but getting actual killshots with american 76 and 90's is like pulling teeth unless I happen to ammorack someone. Has anyone else experienced this or am I just having a massive skill issue these days?

HEAT-FS has become very inconsistent in terms of Penetration and Post-penetration damage (Currently playing US 8.3-8.7). I just had 5 matches in a row, where the M456 Round was as effective as a wet towel, the next match it just oneshots everything.

HEAT-FS is a little finicky, as you've noticed. And from my experience Khalophis is right on the money. Just aim for ammo and pray. Or, jump into a Russian Heavy Tank and watch your armor mean nothing and the HEAT-FS rounds turn into a torrent of shrapnel and it takes out all of your crew, breaks the breach and sets your engine on fire from the front.

Also note that Boosters reduce your post-pen shrapnel by 95% (joking... maybe).

Any recommendations on alternative ammunition then? APBDS (or however it's spelled, sabot) seems to work a little bit more reliably in a couple of test rounds I have done with it using the T-92, it has less killing power but better overall and consistent penetration rate.

You're probably better off with HEATFS, early APDS tends to shatter or do even less consistent damage than HEAT.

APDS has its own issues regarding spalling and damage. As you stated, its is a tiny bit more consistent. I'd suggest taking mainly APDS and a few HEATFS rounds.

HEATFS is just meh to bad, Unless you are using 100mm Soviet HEATFS and then for some unknown reason you can go through multiple vehicles with it.

Ok well after playing a few rounds bringing a mix of HEATFS and APDS I have formed my opinion: Taking a Tiger ll as an example here: Using 76mm (T-92) APDS cannot penetrate the tiger frontally anywhere and is a coin toss on the side hull, it can pen the side turret however which sometimes leads to a killshot if the tiger has a full ammo load. HEATFS can penetrate the tigers front turret around the main gun, breaking it's breach and/or killing one or more crew. HEATFS can penetrate the side hull if it isn't angled and closer than 500m. HEATFS also is more consistent at penning side hull than APDS.

So while both have problems I think I will have to stick with HEATFS, obviously this is an opinion formed from around eight rounds using both ammo types in the T-92, so I could easily be wrong.
