Are People Sure the Chi-Ri II Is That Bad?

I always hear how terrible the Chi-Ri II, but its honestly not a bad tank.
It's auto loader is really nice to have, you basically get two more tries at hitting someone or basically a guaranteed double kill if you flank right.
Its cannon is a monster (If you pen that is), and can punch above its weight class (with a little more effort).
Its mobility isn't anything to write home about but it gets me where I need to go pretty quick.
And Its armor (compared to the rest of the tanks in the ground tree and other countries) is pretty solid, and if you're playing sniper, your armor shouldn't even be much of an issue.
Its basically a worse up-tiered Panzer IV, but even a Panzer IV can punch way above its weight class with ease.
The only glaring issue I see with it is that it's basically a side grade to the Chi-To / Chi-to Late, with an auxiliary cannon, but at a slight higher BR, which is quite odd to me.
I really think the Chi-Ri II is at home where it is.

I agree with this. Except that the Chi-Ri II is an upgrade to the Chi-To. The auto loader alone justifies the .3 BR increase.

I also think the Chi-Ri hate is overdone.
It's not a great tank, but it's not bad. Compared to the Chi-Tos it's just...the same but bigger/higher BR so it feels worse to use in that regard.

I like it, but I wish it had a better lineup around it

My guess for the hate is that perhaps its just leftover post-nerf cope or anger, like when something is too good or just good enough to get nerfed, and it receives one and people overreact saying its ruined. I haven't played this game long enough to know for sure, but I've heard it was "better" in some way or was at a lower BR, I don't know, I've been only playing this game consistently (with some breaks in between) since 2024, so I can't say for sure: This has just what I've heard in passing from discourse on the tank and mentioning in passing from Spookston in his Chi-Ri II video.
I dunno, I just feel like there's more useful discourse to have about ground Japan other than a tank that is not overpowered in its BR.

It's enormous with poor armor and mobility. All it has is its gun, and at the same BR exists the delat torn and M4A1 FL10 with better autoloaders.
