Do you guys think that the new trailer is for april fools or is actually real?
I honestly hope its real but I'm a very pessimistic person so I think its all a joke. This showed real infantry gameplay which was pretty interesting but what do yall think?

Of course it's April Fool's.
Do I think the April Fool's event trailer is real or an April Fool's joke?

You really expect WT, a game about vehicles, to add infantry as a permanent and real feature? Come on dude, even not on April 1st you should recognize the joke.
IF its real, and not simply an April fool's trailer... then i would actually be hyped for infantry, especially if they overhaul maps to have interior buildings like the mall in Holland (I think it was?) and Infantry can take or place areas to spawn closer to the Urban environments. It would also give the smaller IFV/Transports a role as well, being able to move troops around, perhaps even act as spawn points.

Infantry combat would probably require a "Lives" system based on tickets rather than spawn points due to how fragile the role would probably be, so unlike tanks where 1 map snipe = return to lobby, I imagine Infantry can take such hits, shrug, respawn, and adapt.

That said, due to player limits on matches, I think some Infantry Bots should be added as fodder for players to use, kinda like how early Ground forces had those AI tanks we don't see anymore... Thoughts anyone?

Considering the quality of the models this could actually be a sign that they are using april fools to see how it goes. Besides warthunder players have been asking for infantry for a long time. Warthunder wasnt going to have tanks when it came out, nor helis and look where we are now lol infantry would make gaijin big BANK
If its not a April fools I say its about time, Veh Mg's have been a nothing but a waist. Give the Huey, hind, and blackhawks and apc's something to do ferry troops to the battle front. not just to die.. lol

i heard similar things years ago:

"War thunder is a plane game there will never be ground vehicles"

"War thunder is a ww2 game there will never be jets, it won't be ballanced"

"War thunder is a ww2 game there will never be cold war vehicles"

"War thunder vehicles only go up to the year 1970 there will never be modern vehicles"

"Ships will never be added because they won't fit in the ground or air battles gamemode"

"Sweden won't be added because they can't make a full tech tree"

"Submarines won't be added because they will break the naval meta"

"Infantry will never be added because this is a vehicle game"

The developers decide what kind of game it is, if they want to add infantry and think it will make money, then they will add infantry.

they've tested infantry gameplay multiple times. In Enlisted they did full Modern kits multiple times as tests for War Thunder. Enlisted's population is 1% of warthunders and has been dropping and has at this moment Less than 1000 players Online Globally. Since both games are essentially the same, its quite simply at this point for gaijin to merge the games together as was their plan.
These past recent updates to the game have added very little vehicles and little content. This kind of update would make sense, since they also said "The april fools event will be WW1 and they'll show it off on the first". It would make no sense for them to attempt to clarify that it isn't a April fools.

I personally do not see Gajin really doing this, unless they have come up with a decent means of doing a combined arms ground game with a considerable larger player count per match

something like 16 vehicles and 32 infantry per side, with different capture mechanics.
And only available as RP or Sim, no arcade.

I mean it could definitely be done but i don't think the Snail is really going to do it.
If done right, it would be a lot of fun but it would have to fly in the face of everything presently known as gameplay, so it may not even be well received.

New EU laws on real money transactions in games are going to bump thier age rating anyways. Might as well take advantage. Folks who were serious about the buisness sense of why WT has infantry assets in the game files have been talking about this for years. Back then it wouldn't have made business sense for them to kick up thier rating from T for teens to M for mature just by adding infantry. Now it makes buisness sense for them to follow the natural progression of what a combined arms game like this is missing, or what you, myself, Gaijin and everyone else knows damn well is missing. Forget quality of life and balancing improvements, this game has been missing something huge for years, they won't be able to escape from this now they've pulled the trigger like this, April fools or not.

They've had a test bed for this since 2018 known as Enlisted, it now makes perfect sense why Enlisted hadn't implemented cold war era infantry gameplay and beyond, they're most likely in preparation to cannibalize Enlisted and merge it into WT. The infantry gameplay will most likely be AI squad based with the player as quad leader giving commands and being able to switch between squad members freely or upon death just like the mechanics in Enlisted. The progression system will be similar to Enlisted, featuring progression on squad nations, home regiment origins, combat roles, and weapons specialization.

I've spent hundreds of dollars on Enlisted because I liked the game, I haven't played it in over a year and a half. I've spent thousands of dollars on WT because I like the game, I haven't logged in since this past December. Now I'm logging in tomorrow just for this, if infantry becomes permanent, I'm prepared to spend thousands more and rack up another thousand hours. I'm not the only one so i know they smell that boost in revenue.

Same, i've been saying this for years now, I even made threads here on steam stating how much revenue infantry would rack up gaijin, even if it were only bots we could deploy from apcs and helicopters. All the answers were "Gaijin stated they will never add infantry"
LMAO like they stated they will never add top tier premium right? People are sleeping, also dont know from which planet they're from because Gaijin is close to run out of vehicles to add as well, these people must think gaijin will pull new tanks out of their ass or something
i still stick with my guns that they may make infantry akin to armoured warfare, and combining it with how drones work now, making them an ability allowing us to hot swap between infantry and our vehicle, making it more a mechanised warfare game then a straight up vehicle game, which personally as a flyboy, i would not oppose, i very much enjoy ground combat flying specifically because there's more elements to consider and it makes it more exciting, and adding infantry would simply add to my enjoyment as an enjoyer of all things in the game except naval really(though if naval gets added too in 3 way maps that'd be sick)
