Separate key for wep please
Hi, i have a very specific request, so i hope someone might have a solution please.

I play with keyboard and mouse AirRB only and would like to have throttle stick to 0% by default, then have it at 100% when i press the throttle up key (W) and then have Wep on a separate key (Shift).

Right now i can get the 0% by default but when i press throttle up it enables wep and i end up burning my engine, so i managed to tweak the settings to have default 100% throttle, (W) for wep and (Shift) for 0%. It's not what i want but it's the best i got on my own. Do you know a way to make it as mentionned above?

Or else i guess i will have to dedicate myself to yaks which don't have wep i believe.

Thanks for reading anyway, i hope i made myself clear.

set your mouse scroll to controll wep
Movement - mouse wheel (aircraft) - sett to throttle axis = problem solved.

To my knowledge, the only time WEP is active is if you’re holding down W. Just let go of it and it’ll stay at 100%. You don’t have to hold W as you fly in order to go forward.

To cool engines, you can set some keybinds for manual control over the radiator and open them entirely, or you can just throttle back down (even turn off your engine entirely) to cool.

Most of it is just getting out of the mentality of just holding W all the time.

I think you guys misunderstood me.

I don't use the slider type throttle. I have it so that it is set to 100%, and it instantly goes to 0% when i press Shift and it goes to wep when i press W. But ideally i want it to be set to 0%, instantly go to 100% when i press W, and go to wep when i press shift.

Can’t say I’d recommend such a control method as there’s plenty of reasons to want to set 40 or 60% throttle such as when landing or loitering above the battle or something like that.

That said, I’m not entirely sure if the game offers the ability to set that off the top of my head, I’d have to look in the settings again and can’t do that while at work. Not even sure you can set it to go to and from 0-100 instantly like that in the first place. It’s been a bit since I manually edited my keybinds. Even went so far as to copy the keybind settings folder and save it externally so I can overwrite them if they ever reset to defaults.
Disabling Relative Control for Throttle is a... choice... so to speak.

If I recall, doing that means that if you release your Throttle button, you immediately go back to 0% throttle, which is not a good idea.

As for your setting though, there is no control option to do so, if I recall.

Other than that, why do you want to do this button/control configuration, if I may ask? This is something not one would usually do when it comes to Aircraft Controls, so this is an interesting thing to understand with.
I respect the no throttle, only ignition biplane immersion.

I guess i'm used to moving a character in other games, who doesn't move forward unless you press the forward button. I just picture my plane as a third person character, it's very fun to do.

I tried playing with default 0% and W wep, and the feeling of control over my plane was great, it doesn't bother me to keep pressing W, the only problem was... I had to go back to base every 5min because my engine kept overheating.
So i went for 100% default, W wep, and 0% shift. Which kinda does the trick, but it's still annoying not to have that basic principle of only moving forward when pressing.

The main problem i had during dogfights was to stay on my opponents 6 and not over commiting, or getting an opponent off my 6. Well, with that setting, the problem is solved. I have such instant control over my planes speed that getting behind my opponent is much easier. They keep over commiting and i can feel their frustration when they just can't get me off their 6.

Anyway if i don't find a solution i think i'll just commit to planes that don't have wep like the yak 3.
Is there another fighter that doesn't have wep?

You are going to find there are a ton of planes have WEP.
And when you get to jets you are going to be dealing with afterburners that will suck down fuel real quick.
Having variable control over your engine is a very important thing that you will need.

I don't intend to play jets honestly.
Props for life <3

So theres only the yak3 as a fighter with no wep?

Ton planes have some kind of wep, as i have said. Its a very short list of planes that dont have it and some planes even overheat at 100%.

Depends on your settings.
You can set it to be that way, but I think by default it's set to stay at whatever amount you pushed it to.

There's some guides on YT you can watch that help negate overheating at 100%.
