Or E.B.R. (1951)
BMP-3 is a lot slower, also that makes add on armor for BMP-4M useless.
Is it though? They're supposed to have the same engine and transmission. The main point of the M variant of the BMD-4 was to replace the more complex transmission and weaker engine of the original BMD-4 by the ones from the BMP-3 to ease mass production and make it cheaper.
As others have mentioned:
R3 T20 was 3.3 when it came out, now it is 6.0
Mustang Mk.1a was 5.7, now it's 3.7
Wellingtons used to be 5.0, now they're 2.7-3.3
EBR 1954 was 4.3, now 6.7
BR adjustments usually come around a couple of months after vehicles are introduced and have time to get data on their performance.
I should replace the BMP2M by it in my top tier lineup. I had my best games in that thing (BMD). It's so fast.
