Why is the corsair so bad?
I have played 3 games, and past 3 games it's the same thing.

You can't turn. Even in a dive at 350+ mph YOU CAN'T TURN. The plane struggles to stay on target and even the slightest turns knock you off course, and on top of the poor control, the rudder is the only thing keeping you in the air. I'm not joking! If your rudder gets knocked out, you cannot pull up. Even puny 7.62s wreck my rudder, forcing me into a dive I can't escape from.

The guns are alright, but that's about it. On a whole, the corsair is a huge disappointment, and it's the sole reason why I'm giving up on the US line. I cannot bear it any longer.

I tried BnZ tactics in a game I played earlier, and the Yak-3 chasing me shot me down. I was climbing at 380 mph and he can still kill me. Same goes for the J a p s Oh steam, you and your censoring
thats because saying j.a.p.s is the samething as saying the N word to a brotha or sista
there for racist and why its censored
If you play arcade try playing german or japanese planes. When you return to the corsair youll feel as if you fly a lag3 against reserve units.
From my personnal experience with all of the Corsair's, they are heavy BnZ aircraft.
But little do people know is that due to the "gull" wings, they have a far greater surface area then most aircraft, therefore they can generate far greater amounts of lift.

In lamens terms, and War Thunder terms -
If you have landing flaps down and under ~280kmph you can out manouver almost anything that is in the air. And I mean "OUT MANOUVER" not "OUT TURN"
I have killed dozens of unsuspecting zero pilots who fall for an "easy kill" that can be avoided with a yo-yo and engine throttle at 0% to get them to over shoot whichs sets them up for a perfect pilot shot if they try to turn and dogfight.

In conclusion, the Corsair's are remarkable aircrafts, you just have to know how to balance their advantages and disadvantages.

P.S. This is in terms of Realistic Battles, this may or may not work in arcade...

Your Combat Flaps own the game.... Use them.

They rip when I dive.

I think you skipped everything I said and just based that off the title.

Loved my first experience of that flying the P-38... at least better than the few times I ripped a wing off pulling up in my 109 :/
Strange, I use all my f4u corsairs and I like them. At high speed they turn on a dime but at low speed, forget a turn fight.

You need to get the f4u-1C version, that one has the better 4 20mm cannons. Compared to the 6 50s on the other corsairs, the 20mm version rips planes to pieces.

the 20mm f4u-1c version is a tad slower than the rest of the corsairs, but the heavier cannons are worth it.
I don't care about the turning, it's just insanely hard to keep it on track, to keep the crosshair on the plane.

I already have the I-185, and that has 3 20mms, and it's EPIC! The IL-2 has 2 23mm cannons AT TIER 2, and they fire EXTREMELY FAST. Did I forget to mention it can carry ROCKETS? Needless to say it wins turn fights, hands down (Maybe not vs Yak-9s, but that's a different tier)

yeah, especially at low speeds the corsair is a little difficult to aim with. However, since i'm using a joystick, it only took a couple of missions before I got really good at shooting planes down with my 20mm cannons.

I generally use my f6f hellcat, P47D thunderbolt and now my f8f-1 bearcat more than corsair since most of the fights I get into are turn fights.

I'm aiming at 360+ mph just after diving and ending up on that enemy's tail.

I don't use a joystick unfortunately. Thrustmaster Hotas is a piece of ♥♥♥♥....

being at the tail or 6 o'clock of an enemy planes is where you want to be.

That is where I am, but I can't get any shots on in time due to the horrid aiming control, forcing me to break off.

ah, that is the ultimate reason to get a f4u-1c, all you need is like 2 seconds or so and he goes down to your 20mm.

One time in a custom battle duel, I shot 4 planes down in less than 8 sec, including a sabre with the f4u-1c

Stay around 300 mph. Watch some documentaries. Pilots kept the IAS around 300 mph and the 1a was a rock stable platform.
