It just feels like the stick has no deadzone dampening when it is centered. The slightest move will cause your plane to jump around.
you might want to change the button setup to suit yourselves, but it works good for me,,i have the stick set so when on sim settings the plane will only turn to the point before it goes out of control.
thx, have a look when i have time.
Joystick support in this game is poor at best. When the game first hit open beta it was reviewed by many magazines and publications. AT THAT TIME (think early 1.2x era) the game had GREAT joystick support, and as such in most professional reviews (which are never updated) the game was hailed as having good and realistic flight controls.
Then the Mouse Aim group complained and at the end of the 1.2x life-cycle the game got patched up. Come 1.3x the joysticks sucked, had major issues with centering, had major issues with all three axis' being wobbly. In general they nerfed the *good* and *correct* joystick controls down to intentionally make it easier for mouse aim users.
Then after they took HEAVY flak from the JS users they *begrudgingly* admitted that the JS system was "bugged" and would be fixed "soon"...
Since then it has been a SLOW uphill battle just to get JS users back on level fighting fields with a MA user, and truthfully, in PR interviews, the game designers have said they WANT this game to be so simple to be played using only one hand and the mouse. So frankly, don't expect it to get back to being a *flight sim* quality experience really ever again lol.
All that said, I still use a controller or stick for 95% or more of my flights, and you will feel more rewarded if you use one and are looking for the "feel" of flight.
I just don't understand why you can't have the best of both worlds.
Luring the FPS/RPG to WarThunder makes it necessary to have mouse aim be the primary mode(like it or not) They believe that's where the future money will come from(micro-transactions) All the other features that make the game-play more realistic will simply become more of the fine print, unfortunately.
I'm gona go to mouse and keyboard today and try and see if i can do that.
Expect to get lasser acurate shots and (presumably) more kills. Being a dedicated bober pilot, I still fly my fighters on the rare ocasions that I take them out in mouse aim when travleing on the laptop.
Using mouse aim maybe 1hr a month, and fighters only a few hrs a moth overall I can still average 4-5 kills a game with ease.
Been flying controller or stick for going on a year now, and am lucky to pulll 2 kills with fighters that way, which is why I bomb lol.
Personaly I just think its a bit sad. You can look up video of pre-nerfing gameplay and the MA users were stomped hard, which they should be, when placed against full controll JS users. But as others pointed out, the details are ending up in the fine print.
That said, I will give them credit to at least working on it. Though it is taking them forever, and they are litteraly updating it one axis at a time, it is, slowly slowlly slowly getting better. Maybe someday we will be back to where we were?....
Yeah, it is hard with joystick. (However, I'm able to snipe AI planes pretty easially in the single player missions)
I tried playing with mouse and keyboard, and I do not like it.
What joystick do u have.
I tried a mouse and joystick combo, mouse for aiming and joystick for the rest and it doesn't work with me.
