Spitfires can turn fight but believe me that is not their strong suit. "Boom and zooming" is their strong suit and I highly recommend practicing it. There will be frustrating moments where people turn when you dive on them, or climb straight up at you, or even chase you when you climb again, but usually it's a surprise attack and you have the advantage. Using Stealth belts on your cannons can help this, when you know well enough where your rounds will go. The lack of tracers will not let them know you're shooting at them until they've seen you or you've hit them.
A tactic for when you're at a height and someone is climbing up to you: If you spot them, climb straight up, away from them. This should keep them slowly gaining on you, but they will lose a ton of speed, eventually stalling. When you see they are going much slower, turn your plane and dive on them. They will practically be falling out of the sky at 60km/h and impossible to miss, allowing you to aim for specific parts, such as the pilot or tail controls that will surely doom them.
Fly smart, plan ahead, and remember that engaging the enemy immediately isn't always the best idea especially if you can exploit their bad choices.
