Universal, Default. Stealth, etc AMMO types?
Hello.
What are the advantages ( and disadvantages if any ) of using ammo types like stealth, Universal, etc other than Default. Till this point, I have only used Default. Is one specialized in like taking fighters down easier?

Thanks!

As a rule, universal is better than default, since it has better ammo types in the belt, and Air Target/ Ground target are self explaintory. Personally, I use stealth on my MG if I have a cannon that I really want to hit with, since then I will only see the tracers from the cannon rounds and can adjust my aim for them. I never use tracers, I honestly don't see the point in arcade, but it could be useful in RB.

Well, those catagories are a simple way of seeing the general targets you will be engaging. Ground attack tends to weight more towards AP rounds, whereas air target tends to add more HE rounds. Mouse over the ammo rack to see which bullets you actually have. There is a guide in the Encyclopedia with all of the types, but i remember
AP- Armor penetrating-goes through a plane with little damage, but high chance of pilot kills and engine damage.
HE- blows stuff off of the enenmy plane. If you explode from a cannon shot, chance is it was an HE round.
I- Incedinary. Burns stuff.

I use stealth on fighters that have good climb rate. If you know the game well enough to know where your rounds will go without the lead indicator, you can nearly guaruntee a player will not attempt to dodge you until you've hit them at least once, or they've seen you, when using stealth belts. This gives you more time, as if they see 20mm tracers flying past them, they'll dodge. But when they're "invisible" bullets, they won't move until they're hit, and there's a chance you'll kill something important before they react.

One thing you should make sure to so is pay attention to what the actual set up of the belt is. It varies sometimes from plane to plane and country to country. Some planes have tracers where this belt is mostly tracers and a few AP rounds. Others might have a tracer belt full of incendiary tracers. What rounds are on the belt definitely make a difference.

1) Rebind your cannon to mouse5/6
2) They feel like they do more damage [tracers]

Usually it depends on Tier, but in general (and based on RB):

USA: Energy/Boom and Zoom fighters. Best bombers in the game. .50s are standard throughout the whole tree
USSR: Early tier are considered to be some of the most OP planes (Ishak can climb with a P-51). Later on they start to become outdated with only a single cannon and 2mgs. They pick up again with teh MiG 15. Mostly turn fighters until T3, then BnZ from there on.
Germany: Characterized by energy fighters and cannons. Don't try turn with them, but feel free to run rings around them.
UK: Turnfighing all the time, and a mix of crappy 7.7 and amazing 20mm cannons.
Japan: Masters of the turnfight, and have some nice UFOs at the end of thier tech tree. However, your weapons are the worst in the game and you have limited ammo.
Thanks!
