Is the Yak 17 a good jet?

I only have one more prop plane for the russian tree that im researching and I have decide between mig 9 and yak 15. Ive heard that the yak 15 is crap, but it cost far fewer research points than the mig 9 and having it would speed resarch of other jets. So is the yak 17 worth grinding through the yak 15 to get or should I just go straight for the migs?

Like most of the early Russian jets, it is maneuverable, but has a rather underpowered engine, and has a difficult time accelerating.

They can nail people who aren't prepared for their maneuverability, but can get dove upon by smart pilots in P-51's and Tempests due to it's acceleration issues.

the yak-17 is literally a trainer jet. that was it's only purpose.

All Russian jets apart from the Mig15 shouldn't be flown, they are awful and will get killed by any other jet (assuming the other pilot isn't idiotic).

Although Russian is getting 2 new jets in 1.39 that should be good; which mean they will finally have something else to fly in jet games.

I honestly wish I could play historicly acurate games without the need for RB of SB. I just want WW2 only, but this will never happen, becuase one, Gaijin wouldn't do that, and two, becuase everyone who refuses to accept historical accuracy would whinge and complain. If the Allies could do it. Im sure we can.
