Helicopters won't be interesting in game: low speed, lack of weapon(!), difficulties in controlling...also, why didn't you mention Vought-Sikorsky 300?
I didn't want anything game related, just passing on some history for the people that enjoy that. thanks for pointing out the Vought-Sikorsky 300
http://www.sikorsky.com/ timeline makes some interesting reading
They actually planned on using helicopters to rescue Mussolini originally. Can't remember why they couldn't do it and just used airborne troops instead.

sounds like an interesting story will look into it further, ripped the next bit from wiki

Otto Skorzeny was planning his raid to abduct captured Italian dictator Benito Mussolini from the Albert Rifugio hotel on the Gran Sasso in September 1943, his original choice of aircraft was a Fa 223. The Fa 223 would be able to land directly in front of the hotel. However, the chosen aircraft broke down while en route, and Skorzeny instead was forced to use a Fieseler Fi-156.
dude if you want helicopters go play battlefield heroes or battlefield 1942 secret weapons
Gliders were the helicopters of WW2, would be better to include them first, then any wacky prototype craft.
wacky prototype explains flying in the early part of the last century. sorry you cant see.
Yes and I don't like to be a wet blanket, it would be cool to see. The military application of helicopters, as troop transport, didn't really materialize in WW2 though. Thats why I said gliders were the helicopters of their time, able to put troops/war material in a fairly precise area.
your not being a wet blanket to me, your opinion is welcome in this disscussion.
Axis (Germans) had quite a few, the first operational in 1942

and in 1945 there was first use as troop transport, by Axis military, but I suppose helicopters could make a useful appearance in Korean era conflict
