Actually, it's power is historically accurate:

• 2 x .50 cal (12.7 mm) synchronized Browning M2 machine guns

It used to be even more ridiculous, but was patched. The firepower is balanced out a little by the fact that it handles like a thrown brick most of the time.

Yak 9 along with most russian aircraft are OP their 50 cal's rip wings off cobras yet severeral 37mm shots that hit from an Aircobra dont do anything but leak fuel

I don't feel like playing in an environment where it is a bit too easy to get kills. And if you think this plane is "OP", consider playing with planes from countries of the same tier in Arcade. They should have even more upgrades.

Only one problem, don't call a plane 'OP' because you played it in one mode. There are two major modes in this game, Arcade and Realistic. Things are different in Realistic mode and I don't consider Realistic mode to be realistic at all, but it is different from Arcade. So, bear that in mind.
