What exactly is "immediate action" anyway? Do they explode on contact?
At least according to the WT Wiki, they do:

Immediate-action incendiary(IAI) is not an incendiary shell. It's a small calibre HE-I round. It explodes on impact which can be seen with the MG131's stealth belt.

If they really work that way, one can expect that they're not very good. They're small caliber so the explosive power is low, and they have virtually no penetration, because they explode on impact. So they'd primarily be damaging the surface of an aircraft, instead of punching through and setting fire to the engine or fuel tanks.

Yea pretty much this; The API/API-T is the superior round over the IA-I.

I fly japan mainly so if you got any other questions in reguards to belts or whatever for japan, ask away.

From what I heard was found in the code, IAI is pretty much just a small scale HE round. AP-I is usually superior due to the small amount of explosives in the IAI rounds.

With those guns on japan use Omni or tracers works well when i use them for some of my planes like the J2M3-5 and the Ki 96

Just be thankful they even work. German 7.9mm Incendiary and Armor Piercing Incendiary do not even work. Week of flying and only one plane I shot with 7.9mm rounds caught fire. *sighs*

For Japanese 20mm cannons tracers with full API-T. Stealth works decently enough too if you want to remain undetected longer.
For 7 mm and 12 mm machine guns stealth.

German MG17 and MG81, for example. 7.92x57mm Mauser was incredibly common everywhere in the German forces of both World Wars.

7.9mm incendiary is so bad that people are better off using the stealth belts which are just all AP rounds. lol

You should go for depleted stalinium AP
