a WW1 event
would be cool to see a WW1 even with things like the FT17, Mark 4 or even A7V
Or new planes and skins like the red baron, would be pretty cool i think

Obviously not as an event. They would of course have to redo the BR/rank sytem to allow for 1910s and then 1920s stuff to be added to the game. Which btw they've said no to WW1 stuff many times so you might as well forget about this ever being possible.

Aircraft? Could be fun. Tanks? Well, better make them a bit unrealistic as the tanks of WWI couldn't even hit 10km/h off road. You can already come close to the FT17 experience if you want. Just take the H.35 (you will have better armor, but close enough), stick it in CC1, and enjoy the "superior" APCR it lets you have.

Eh, could be a nice April's Fool event

Yeah this is the main problem. WW1 tanks were walking pace fast, the Renault FT did ~8kmh, which was better than the A7V and Mark IV's speed of ~6kmh, but still god awful. I already find the Churchill's painfully slow at 15-20kmh, 6-8kmh would be unbearable.

Planes on the other hand I think could work well, although they'd need to improve damage models for wood and canvas.

a bit off topic, but I'd really like to see a tier 1 event.

reduce a regular map to a fifth of its usual surface and it might not be a waste of time
doesn't mean it necessarily won't tho

They've said no to nearly everything at top tier a million times over. Didn't stop them adding it.

Their road top speeds are higher than that and as with everything in the game their in-game top speed would be the theoretical maximum. The rest can be solved with smaller maps designed around it. Plenty of maps are already small enough as it is.

I agree, this would make for a very cool april fools event.

SAMs, Battleships, AGMs, Heat seakers, Radar missiles, Radar aim, helicopters....

Need we go on?

OP is as right today as he was 5 years ago. Bring on the A7V and the Focker Tri plane please.

IMO WW1-era stuff would not give us anything that the 1930s vehicles aren't already giving us, but I accept that other people feel differently.

I believe supersonic jets was a good one. Didn't quite stick to that one...

It would give us a reliance of armour back as many of the guns at the time would struggle with even thin armour. It would make careful consideration of where you're shooting pretty important.

I take it you've never used the American tank with two machinegun turrets and 0 cannons?
Or the ~1.0 tanks with 20mm cannons?
Or the tanks with Shrapnel shells as their best default ammo, with 34 max pen, even at 2.3?
Or really anything with modest pen in an uptier facing medium/heavy tanks?
Or anything with poor post-pen damage?

Yeah, sorry, but having to actually aim is pretty common already. I know that some guns are best described as "lol-pen," but I'm pretty confident that issue would still occur in some fashion in WW1 tanks. Either that or nobody can pen anyone else and matches always hit the time limit.

Just speed up the WW1 tanks to arcade style and you'd have no problem with speed.

WW1 theme... I like the idea :) The tanks will be slow, but planes could be alot of fun :) Love dog fighting with biplanes :)
