Tank 3rd person aiming - disable vertical auto aim
I'd like to know how to turn off "vertical aim correction" near objects such as walls etc. This auto barrel rising cost me dying hundreds of times. See the 12.27 min mark in attached video - TigerII's barrel is in place aiming exactly where the players wants it to when he peeks through edge of a building wall, but in my case the barrel is always rising up messing with my aim. I want my aiming to work just as in the example video PLEEEEASE

I know exactly what you mean, and I don't think it can be turned off. it's beyond annoying.

Edit: I think the best you can do is to key bind the feature that allows you to stop the turret from rotating as you look around. This way, the barrel won't try to correct itself.

If it can't be turned off then why on the attached example it looks like it's off?
Free look camera key affects only horizontal guidance but for some godamn reason not the vertical one...

EDIT: I've just got killed again because my aim was messed up by a wooden fence FFS

This has been an issue for years. I has bothered the hell out of me. Never found a solution for it.

For me it affects both, when I want my barrel to stay in place and I know it may go up, I use that keybind. I'm not gonna test it rn, but I'm pretty sure it does.

The gun still moves vertically near objects regardless if free look key is pressed or not

Maybe you're reffering to some other option that I can't find and I'm not aware of? Becuase my free look key doesn't affect gun's vertical movement, never did
No, it's the free look option that I'm referring to. Maybe I imagined it, I'll confirm it once I get on unless somebody else does first.

Ditto.
Options ---> Main Parameters ---> Ground Vehicle Battle Settings ---> Block Vertical Aiming while Braking

This is for vehicles w/o stabilizers so they can aim faster after braking, that's not what I'm looking for
The issue, I typed about and the one I think the OP typed about is this; When your barrel is close to something it auto moves. Examples are looking around a corner in 3rd person, switch back to gun view and the barrel moves up. Moving you off target.

This also happens when a enemy tank moves right up to you. If you move the barrel to point at them, then look around in 3rd person to see who else is around. When you switch back to gunner, (reload finished, repair done, etc) the barrel will move off target.

I have had all manner of objects cause my barrel to move, fences, rocks, destroyed tank hulls. The barrel seems to have a mind of its own and wants to move away from nearby objects.

I have always attributed it to the shoddy hit boxes objects have. It is very annoying.

stay in the gun sights the easiest way
I don't know why, but I never had this issue with realistic battles, I have tested it in arcade and I see what you mean.
The answer is you cant but there is a iffy way to get what you are looking for.
You can switch to your machine gun then back to normal when you want to fire however you will lose horizontal turret control so this is a niche use for keeping your gun horizontal while you get onto flat ground
