The best for me was the A6M6c but is slowly becoming the SU-33. I am honestly amazed by the release state of the 6c, good BR, strong ground lineup to support it if you happen to us it in ground, great armament for a japanese plane and given it's profile it is easy to misidentify as practically any other A6 and thus will make people think it is using much weaker guns. Okay bomb loadout for messing with players in GRB and great strafing potential. And it is the only plane I ever got the chance to fly where dying was actually more rewarding than the repairs were damaging, meaning that if you died without contributing anything to the match it didn't matter because the enemy pilot just handed you a check for the repair bill and a little extra on top which made it an insane SL grinder for low-mid tier air matches. However now it is too slow to participate in air RB and the strafing potential is much reduced both due to heavier targets and the reduced damage for 20mm autocannons which has made things a little bit nicer for open top players fighting the 6c, spitfires, Yak's, etc, even if slightly longer strafing runs will still kill them. So now I've shifted to the SU-33, a perfectly balanced aircraft that has nice capabilities but nothing unfair or busted, sitting at a reasonable BR and being incredibly suitable for new players, having a lot more lift than most jets with a really good top speed that prevents players from crashing or ripping the plane apart like they have consistently done with other top tier planes, the plane also introduces a lot of the features on top tier aircraft with an okay setup unlike the ICE which while covered in cool features and weapons, has an airframe that leaves a lot to be desired. And as a missile bus right out of the gate with not 2, not 4, but 6 missiles it not only has a nice stock grind but it also pushes players in the direction of CAP rather than CAS unlike a lot of the other premiums and purchasable aircraft which keeps them from flying straight into half a dozen SPAA's or worse, suicide bombing a single target and instead causes them to be airborne longer and engage enemy planes which helps the team AND helps them practice to get better at air to air combat. My only problem is that it's not a premium so research wise it sucks and being a top tier plane, new players will be pretty limited in what they can do with it in the first match because most of the weapons systems onboard won't do anything without custom keybinds being made or extensive use of the radial menu so a completely brand new player can't fly it and if they do they won't have countermeasures, can't use the radar, won't be able to select which missile they are going to fire and potentially won't even be able to fire missiles (for example my friends on console didn't have any keybinds for missiles when they switched to PC but knew they needed them unlike a new player who'd have no clue.). So while I want to give it the crown, there are draw backs that make the simpler A6M6c so much more appealing for the title of best plane even if it has lost it's luster over the years.
As for the best plane? Depends on your playstyle and opinion alone.
