Extreme Repair Costs for some countries?

Hi, i've been playing Britain and i've reached 8.7 currently, and i've noticed that their tanks start at ~5000 SL repair cost. That can reach up to 9000 repair cost with modifications, and if going for all of them, it can even reach over 10000 in repairs.
I literally have to select which modifications i wanna use and which i don't really need that much to save money. If i lose all 3 tanks, i'm literally gonna go into minus no matter how well i perform.
However Russian tanks only cost 4000 maximum for repairs, even with full modifications, and most other nations are pretty much a lot more cheap than Britain.
Why?
I mean i started grinding SL with other nations just to go into profit, but it's kinda annoying how you can play russia (and other nations as well) and almost never go into minus, and with britain you can play like a god and you still lose money, even if you lose a little.
I don't wanna sound like i'm whining, but i would like an actual explanation? Is it something historical-related?

I do know that. I play other Gaijin games, and pretty much every DLC is 60 euro (lmao) and is made to make you buy premium stuff (especially the grind).
However i don't see why would some nations especially be a lot more expensive than others?
I almost never see any British players in-game, i only see russian / german / american tech trees in-game, and they're the cheapest ones. Wouldn't it be more logical to be the other way around if that's what they're going for?

As far as I'm aware, at lot of this comes from the repair costs being partly decided based on how much success players are having with a given vehicle. But as the vast majority of newer players will start with one of the big 3, so its only the more experienced ones that tend to try out the other nations. Resulting in them often performing better in a match and the repair cost being increased as a means of balancing this. Even if in practice its not any better than those of other nations or sometimes slightly worse.

Have you tried other top tier nations? Imo Britain isn't really classified as a minor nation. Nations like Sweden suffers more from this, although without a doubt, top tier has one of the worst repair cost out there. Balancing the repair costs based on the player's skill is a really really shallow move. Let's say there are two tanks that are pretty similar A and B. Just because people win more in tank A, it doesn't mean tank A should have a significantly higher repair cost than B.

You can even check the war thunder wiki and check all the max repair costs.
Britain is the most expensive one.
the only more expensive one being one swedish anti-air tank.
And russian high-top tier isn't really expensive. In 8.3 they ONLY cost ~4000 to repair. The exception being T-55AMD-1 which costs like 6.800.
Japan's max repair cost is basically the beginner repair cost for britain.
China's 4.7 tanks cost as much as Alecto (1.0 britain).

Let's check the top-tier max repair costs shall we?
Japan's type 10 - 4315 AB
China's ZTZ99-III - 7294 AB
Russia's T-80BVM - 7031 AB
Germany's Leopard 2A6 - 8928 AB
USA's M1A2 Abrams - 8573 AB
Britain's Black Night - 9079 AB
Italy's Ariete - 7171 AB

The only one being close to Britain's repair costs are Germany and USA, and that's only for the highest tier tanks. The lower tier one's don't even come close.

I main britain (currently in 8.3) and in 8.3 they suck, they don't have armor, don't have high penetration or anything useful, and their LIGHT TANKS cost over 6000 to repair.
However when i played russia or japan on my friend's account, i have a vastly more score there (mostly because of a lot more armor, and higher penetrations), often being the first one in the team, and their tanks cost half as much as britains.
Where's the connection?

I think you've got it wrong in the repair cost. Those are repair costs without the modifications on in 8.3. You've got plenty of vehicles that have high repair cost (above 5k perhaps in Realistic Battles:
1. T-62 (7806; with all the mod)
2. IT-1 (5800 + mod)
3. T-10M (6050 + mod)
4. Shturm-S (6460 + mod)
5. AMD-1 (5500 base + mod)

If you were to compare it to the British, I'd say only the Chieftain Mk3 has the craziest repair cost in 8.3. Plus, I think the user you replied to is talking about RB.


Also, I think you're agreeing with my opinion? I simply said that people shouldn't balance the repair costs based on skill. I mean.... yeah I do agree that there is not really anything special with british tanks at that BR or tier that makes it have more repair cost. This is comparing specifications only. Let's say we compare the T-62 and the Chieftain Mk3, both are good vehicles.

Chieftain has similar APDS performance and on-par with the T-62 even though the T-62 is slightly better. Chieftain has a rangefinder that goes up to 1200m even with a low-skill crew. Chieftain has worse mobility because the engine is on par with the T-62 (even better) yet the weight is way more heavier. Chieftain has better depression (but this doesn't matter on flat terrain). Armor wise, can't compare them mostly. T-62 can't be said to have a good armor because almost everything on-par with it can penn it. It is playable using that armor but the armor is not that reliable. Chieftain has a strong turret but the hull is crap. Also the turret rotation on the Chieftain is better than the T-62 and it has faster reloads (which you can use a high level crew on it and get better reload).

Both if played by a skilled player generates the same outcome. Both are good, yet the other one has way more repair cost.

I'm clawing my way through tier 3 and 4 right now. I don't know how this game is even playable without premium. There are times I get out of a match and only surplus like 300 lions as I eat 3 single shot kills from one of the 27 T-34's on the opposing team.

It use to be better but they tried evening out repair cost between nations but it didnt realy make them any cheeper on the whole. Eg 10k tanks became 9k while the rare few 5k ones became 8k

Yeah i saw some posts on their forum that Centurions used to cost 10k+????? Like bruh. I mean it's cheaper now but there's still a high difference between tanks.

Yeah that's the problem as well. Usually all nations except britain have APHE shells, which if you get penetrated you die, and britain doesn't have that, but they still have the most expensive dang tanks lol. I mean it's nice having a stabilizer in 7.0, but that doesn't really mean all the tanks up until then and after then can be so expensive.
Which nation are you playing? If you're getting killed so easily maybe you're rushing tanks too much? That was what i was doing when i had no idea how to play the game.
