How to survive first minutes in air battle

Its hard for me to survive first minutes of battle when its usually more than 1 v1 like 3 or 2 versus me. Im decent in planes but  I always kill somebody after B and z but when i fly up again somebody catches me like 8 out 10 situations. I do play with German and Usa so I have to Boom and zoom.
Your tips and opinions guys will be welcomed =)

side climb, that's what I do, then I go up to 4000-5000m hunting bombers or dive on fighters who wants to climb and catch me.

this is my strategy with P51s, F6F and P47s ( in general most US fighters )

most of the time I stay alive till the end of the battle and get around 7-10 kills. ( arcade )

in realistic mode I do the same but my team goes straight to heart of the enemy and less than 10 mins they get wiped out.....and bam we lose the game....

What gamemode do you play? Regardless to that, you should always stick close to teammates. And don't be the one guy rushing into battle in front of your team. That will get you killed.

AB , but I cant reach the bombers coz my planes altitude limit is not that high

which tier you are playing at the moment ?

Dont be afraid to patiently climb and wait for them to come to you. If they dont, then simply hang around to provide cover for the bombers till it's obvious that you need to dive on a few.

Ive found the early US planes tend to have poor climb rates... which sucks since theyre supposed to be boom and zoom type planes. Also for boom and zoom planes they really need to be on someones tail for a bit to actually inflict damage.
The hawk line has some really good lower tier fighters though.

Im tier 4 at germans so no problem there , but in US lines my tier 2 cant climb bombers such B25 and such bombers
