There is no better, only different.

Both are actually pretty good. It comes down to whether you like American or German tanks more. Both have good CAS options and versatile lineups. I will say Germany has a better light lineup overall.

"Better" is going to come down to preferences.

US top tier ground vehicles are good at everything, but they don't excel at anything. Their CAS and air support options are much better than Germany's and they have access to ADATS, which is the best Radar SPAA in the game. The most defining factor of the M1 Abrams variants is they can be a pain to one hit kill consistently which makes them good in packs. If your friend/teammate gets hit, they have a good chance to survive compared to other MBTs so you can cover them and work over the enemy with some spicy teamwork.

German ground vehicles are very good at positional engagements. They're good at holding a good spot on the map, and turret peaking. It can be difficult to dislodge a Leo2A5 and 2A6 as its turret is well protected. It's not very good at open warfare because its hull isn't well protected. Germany's air support options are pretty decent, but they're not on par with US's capabilities and Germany's Radar SPAA options are kinda meh compared to what the US brings to the table with the ADATs.

Overall, I'd boil it down this way:

US vehicles are great at moving around the map and exploiting gaps in the enemy team's map control. German vehicles are great at locking off sections of the map and forcing the enemy to go literally anywhere else or die (if you're exploiting the Leopard's capabilities correctly).

MBTs in general can do what other MBTs do, but those niche differences between them is how you need to play them in order to get the most out of them.

Every tech tree will "suffer" at some point, its unavoidable. It really is just about preference. American tree has decently armored vehicles when you get higher up, (ESPECIALLY with bushes dear god I hate those things) and they get amazing CAS. Germany has decent tanks as well, but less armored in more vital areas. Also Good German CAS seems non existent. If you want to play more cautious, I would say go with the German tree, but if you play more aggressive, go with the American tree, although this is just my opinion and not straight facts.

Yep, I generally agree with this.

I would put forth that "US Top Tier Suffers" simply because folks use the Abrams wrong. It's not a magic can do anything vehicle that can survive any hit. In fact, Abrams has some of the biggest weakpoint spots out of any MBT.

This can cause issues with what I like to refer to as Pop up Engagements. This is a circumstance where two opposing vehicles have an unplanned encounter and you both need to react to the enemy. Soviet tanks have smaller weakspot points than Abrams does so a Soviet vehicle has a much more comfortable margin of error in getting a disable/kill shot on the Abrams than the Abrams does against a Soviet tank with really only one exception.

The M829A2 round found on the M1A2 doesn't really have much of a problem with most armor it runs across. So, what happens when your M1A2 gets knocked out? You have to use your M1A1s, which don't have access to the M829A2 so you have to be more careful with your shot placement. That means your margin/time to get on target ends up being slower than your Soviet counterparts so they have a better chance to get that Pop Up Engagement shot off quicker than you.

Ideally, you need to be hyper aware of everything going on around you when your'e using an Abrams, arguably more so than other vehicles. If you're on the ball, Abrams is gonna tear up the enemy team.

If you're not, well... AmErIcA sUfFeRs.

I may have just spent a good little bit raggin on the Abrams, but once you understand this about the Abrams, you will do good with the Abrams because you will employ it smarter against your opposition and be aiming for the highest turret tossing records as you explode ammo racks left and right.

Did you main US first?
dLFN Sep 19, 2022 @ 9:13pm
They're both good picks but I think Germany is slightly better, especially at mid tier. US has a bit better CAS but there are still plenty of good CAS options as Germany. At top tier I think US is better because of the lineup variety, the leopard 2A5 is great but the German 11.0 lineup isn't as varied as the US one.

USA in tank but you get worse teammate, worse than tigers who rush and don't angle.

Pick Germany.

You'll suffer no matter what- so don't come into this with the expectation of there being a "right" way to play, or that one nation is inherently better than the other, (even if people scream about Russian Bias.)

Germans get good tanks throughout the whole tech-tree that will not cause too much suffering- but especially early on. I can't speak fully for later tiers- but as someone who's mained USA.. ♥♥♥♥ the US mid-tier grind. If you're worried about top tier tanks.. just focus on actually getting their first.

Like what was said above- CAS options are more diverse and "better" for US in late game.
German CAS is milder- but they get good planes in mid-tier.

Tanks in mid tier will favour Germans and Russians, until the 'Cold War' stages, where the US and other nations overtake them a bit.
However- if you play tons (literally tons) and learn to game the game- (use the Protection Analysis to figure out where to shoot the tanks giving you a hard time).. you'll improve.

You will suffer in this, no matter what.
This game might seem 'casual'.. but it plays like a sucker-punching b@#$% if you go smoothbrain mode in matches. Stick to Arcade to pick things up- then move to Realistic (for the better research/silver gains).. but only once you know definitively which faction you wanna grind through. The game a grind- nothing we can do about it. (Unless you pay to progress straight to top tier)

Lastly, FOCUS ON TANKS YOU ACTUALLY WOULD LIKE TO PLAY.
Caps, because it's important. You'll enjoy this game FAR more, if you actually play or grind for vehicles that you actually would like to play around with. Don't look at what others say or what youtubers say is "Hot" or "OP".. focus on whatever tank is close by on the tech tree, and that you would actually like to play with.

Suffice to say.. TL;DR.. Play Germany, This Game is Suffering No Matter What.

I really want to use British tank and US, but the problem is all the good team players at 1 nation, which mean we get easy killed teammates.
Germany is handheld so that is the easier line to advance.
