pros and cons of the Planes of each Nation?

new to the game so anything would help

Start with russian planes, they are more forgiving that the other planes IMO. Avoid the Japanese planes until you know how to fly well. Arcade battles are great fun but do try a few Realistic battles, as you can still use keyboard and mouse and the rewards ar egreat if you are any good.

Are british planes good as well?

British are pretty good with lots of MGs on the spitfire and Hurricane... German have good Boom and Zoom planes... Japanese require a lot of skill so don't try right away... Russian planes are pretty good but IMHO I don't think they are that good except for killing off turning planes since the 20mm on the Yak1 is in the nose so no need to worry about where the guns converge...
American planes are pretty good but mainly in the later tiers. I stopped flying them because I hate the way they look :)

I see the nations as sliding from one end of the turn-and-burn/boom-and-zoom spcetrucm. Germans have the best boom-and-zoom planes with great climb rates and plenty of cannons but suffer in turning fights if your not a 109. Then come the U.S. with more average climbrates but with plenty of MGs that light everything on fire and are among the fast in dives and straight lines. Soviet planes are in smack in the middle being Jack-of-All-Trades with no real strength (Outside firepower) but no real weaknesses either, beating them is just know what you can do that they can't. Britan is more turn and manuever oriented but still having good climbrates and later on having good cannon armament. Japan is very much the turn-an-burn, they outmanuevor everyone else, even their BnZ Ki- series can out turn most other planes even though they take the most skill to use. Of course, this is not a hard rule, German and the US have planes that have amazing manuevorability and Britan and Japan have planes that can fly high but it's more or less the archetypes.

Really, just try them out and find out which ones you like the most. You unlock all the nations anyway, just have some fun with it.
