constantly getting in high tier battles.

been playing War Thunder for aprox 270 hours (based off of steam). Most of which were spent in tank battles.
It always went well, with my overall 3.7 BR lineup (no matter the faction, I prefer to get in tier 2 battles). Get in a match, tanks changing from 3.0Br to 4.3 BR... All fine and well, until a few months ago, I started to end up in 4.7 BR battles. And no, I'm not referring to one or two enemies... the ENTIRE enemy team composed of 4.7 BR tanks. While mine was going between 3.7 BR (me and me only) and 4.7 BR. Ok, I can understand. The game wants to be a bit challenging and all. But seriously. Last time I ended up in a decent match, where I wasn't the only 3.7 BR guy, was MONTHS ago. And I've played at least a hundred missions ever since. I'm tired of all the high tiers, and no matter my lineup and overall BR, I keep ending up in battles where the most common BR is 1+ higher than mine.

so please... somebody, help me! I can't stand getting in an arcade battle, checking the enemy and ally tanks only to find out I'll get killed in the first minute... I just can't play the game anymore, since I can't make any progress without raging.

P.S. for whoever says "get gud", please, from the bottom of my heart, leave. This is a serious discussion of the matchmaker and such, and I can't tollerate such comments. Thanks for your understanding.

Adjust your tank selection to control your BR. Doesn't matter if all of your tanks have a similar BR, you'll face upto +1 of what ever your highest tank in line up is.

I have 3 tanks I like to use, other 2 slots I fill with lower tier that I'll never play.

from what I know, the matchmaker only counts the three highest tier tanks in the lineup. It doesn't really matter if you have the other slots filled with low tiers, since they won't count. And trust me, I tried to adjust my BR has much has possible. Nothing ever worked.
My most commonly used lineup is the following: T-34 1942 (BR 3.7) 1941 (BR 3.7) and 1940 (BR 3.3) I changed it so the BRs were 3.7, 3.0 and 2.7 (or 3.0, can't remember properly). Nothing changed. went on another country and did the same. No difference. So I started using lower tiers in general. Worked for one battle, then everything went to sh*te once again. So I tried the opposite, to use the highest BR tanks I have at my disposal. Still no difference, always ending up in +1 BR battles.

uptiers are more common than downtiers for a few reasons, firstly because the game enforces it where there is a 1.0 spread between the highest and lowest players lineup BRs it will only allow 25% of players with the highest of those available BR, so just to start off this means approximately 75% of the time you can expect to be facing anything from +0.3, +0.7 or full +1.0 of you. on the plus side this means there shoudnt be more than four people that high above you and most of the enemy team shouldnt be quite so far above you, if not on par

the other reason is the players, we are not all equally distributed over all brs, this is down to the vehicle trees, not all nations have enough vehicles for a viable lineup at every potential BR. sometimes there just arent enough players of other nations available at a BR your own nation is quite strong at

players tastes are also a strong contributor , there are certain popular vehicles like the german tiger which you can expect to see a lot of people queuing with, so if you queue within 1.0 below a tiger BR simply due to the imbalance of players queuing in that range you should expect to face them every match

and lastly there are us, the experienced players, who know all this and deliberately design our lineups for the most advantagous matchmaking, not going for popular vehicles ourselves but relying on others using them so we can choose vehicles slightly higher and have a high chance of being downtiered into them

Mate I'm sorry, I really don't know how to say this, but... This post is maybe, just a tad old? I wrote this when I was 16. I'm 24. I barely ever play the game now, between work and lack of interest. Besides, when I do play now I get more or less my own tier anyway, and getting even +1 BR enemies makes very little difference with my usual low-tier lineup.

Genuinely forgot my teen self even wrote this stuff though. Yikes. Should've taken a break from playing long before getting frustrated enough to post a BR rant. That's what I've done for a few years now and it works great for enjoying the game.
