MEC for Yak-1 or Yak-3 (Air RB)
Hello everyone, my question is about air realistic battles. I’ve matured a desire to try Russian Yaks, specifically the Yak-3, generally considered the OP aircraft, but I want to fly the Yak-1 first. I would like to get any advice on manual engine controls on the Yak-1 and Yak-3 respectively. What values to set prop pitch at, I assume it can handle 100% and lower values to set if needed to cool the engine? At what altitude to switch between supercharger gear 1-2? Also, to what altitude do those Yaks reign supreme in terms of performance? Up to 3,000 m ? From what altitude do they lose power?

YAK9U 90/35/35 3000M CHARGER2
YAK 3/9 88/10/10 2000M CHARGER2 20degree climb tracer 12.7 tracer 20mm

I gave you my mec and belt settings for the yak3 and yak9u. You basically do not need to worry about overheating anymore and have infinite wep.

You should always try to be the highest no matter if you are designed for low attitude, but the rule of thumb is 5000m, is where the yak starts to suffer due to the engine. 4000m or the LA7 or LA5.

You should definitely try the yak9u. It goes 580 kmh at sea level and can out turn basically everything thats not JP, spit ,VL or Xp50. Also you have much better high alt performance, and can climb like a rocket. But the yak3 or yak3 e are still OP. It trades top speed for better maneuverability and is an excellent xp50 killer.

The yak1b is basically a low tier yak3. So give it a shot as well.

Throttle down when diving to avoid wing rips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

flaps drop only around 250kmh and landing speed is 200kmh. You can fully apply wheel brake to avoid nosing over.

Thank you for the informations! At the moment I'm trying Yak-1 (BR 2.3), I want to fly this Yak first.

I've tried MEC, but I don't feel like I'm getting anything out of it. Cooling due to opening the radiators sometimes works, other times it doesn't it seems. Supercharge control is also a bit mysterious for me, because gear 2 automatically disables WEP, which otherwise works up to 3.500-4.000m (with AEC), in short, in this particular case, it is not entirely clear to me whether I am gaining an advantage or not so I leave it to the AEC and it seems fine.

I remind that I'm talking about the Yak-1 now (BR 2.3).

Why do you use tracer belts for both UBS and ShVAK tho? They aren't the strongest. I personally prefer either stealth belts for both, or, if I need tracers, air targets for UBS (API bullets are stronger than API-T, and they make up 50% of the belt) and ground targets for ShVAK (33.(3)% of the belt are powerful HEF rounds, only the stealth one has more).
