- They don't work if the Flares aren't being deployed in the missile's seeker pathing
Missiles can come in arcs that avoid where your flares are launched from and in effect, not get distracted by flares/chaff. If you have an incoming missile, knowing how your flares deploy from your aircraft and where to orient your aircraft into the missile's pathing arc is important.
- Cut afterburner
If a missile is coming from straight behind you, make sure to cut afterburner as your engine and still radiate a lot of IR light for the missile to continue tracking you through flare deployment.
