What happened to Gepard tracking radar
(title and content edited after being made aware by the first response that we're not talking about IRST)

As long as I can remember, Gepard could lock onto targets without using its search radar. For some time now, it has not been possible. Interestingly, though, you can still use the tracking radar lock alone (visible difference in the appearance of the lock-on bracket size), but only while the search radar antenna is unfolding. Is this intentional or another bug?

Thanks' I clearly confused tracking radar with IRST... Thread edited accordingly.

I could always just fold the dish and lock on as usual with reduced visibility, only the brackets would be more like dots and less rectangular. As mentioned, it can still be done while the dish is unfolding (and not while it's folding).

I am 100% positive you could lock on targets with radar folded until relatively recently for a long time. If you don't use your radar folded by default, you might not have noticed :S
But that's why I disabled it by default - did not need it up and spinning.

Also, some older reference, from 3 years ago, but it still worked just a couple of months ago:

well technicaly it has 2 independend radars 1 for search and 1 for tracking, but I guess gaijin decided to bring it in line with all the other spaa, as they can only do either and not both
My type 87 or whatever the Japanese one is called wasn't locking at all

Yeah, it's kinda unrealistic that the tracking radar stops working if the search radar gets damaged
