Seal Clubbing - How to keep players away from your game
Seal Clubbing is generally a problem I see in Ground RB, as every 20 people playing the game there is at least 1 seal clubber. It is a huge issue due to Air RB and Ground RB having 2 entirely diffrent structures, as in air RB you have a fighting chance aginst a seal clubber, on the other hand, Ground RB low tier is just hell. I contantly see myself dying to level 100 players just because they know everything about the map, their tank & my tank and it doesn't take a genius to guess that it's just unfair, why would I have to suffer in War Thunder just for somebody to get 10 kills in a spaded tank with an expensive camo and 1 million bushes?

Now, for the people who will say stuff like "I want to start a new nation" or "I like WW2 stuff" - that's perfectly okay, but then we both (most likely) suffer, I, since I'm getting killed by a veteran player and the veteran player, who can't put up against a player with the same experience/skill as him.

Gajin should in fact add skill based matchmaking, as I am willing to sacrafice a bit more queue time for a fighting chance

Thank you for reading

EDIT:
Baker from this post insulted everyone from his post and majority of his posts were censored by the mods. He ends up awarding Jesters who disagrees with him and below me in retaliation. I confronted him about it and he openly admitted and you can see in his Steam profile awards how many Jesters he sent.

So what are you implying? to add an MMR to prevent the sealclubbers? Online games back then didn't have any MMR. MMRs were only added to compete for the best of the best like e-Sports or tournament but seriously?

You expect a war game to have an MMR? Even sim games won't have MMRs not just War Thunder and also other games.

No matter if they add MMR or what not people will just make new accounts so that doesn't justify anything with "seal clubbing" or the game needs MMR. In the end, learn how to play the game to compete with everyone instead of writing long essays here.

Those who complain about these kinds of stuff are the people who refuse and acknowledge how the game works. People who plays with a level 100 as a friend or even watch a video from a player who is a level 100 also makes them have an upper edge with someone else with an MMR or what not so in the end it's all a skill issue.

Aces in real life unalives rookies and they couldn't complain because they're dead on the spot. You would be complaining an actual war why aces exists when they do seal club in real life as well and War Thunder goes with historical accuracy.

The game is designed for you to grind your vehicles then play that vehicle whatever you want as long as you have them unlocked. If you can't handle that then good luck finding a game that has it.

You know that they probably do you a favor, right? WT is a game where you constantly face atleast one unnerving thing every match.
Be it full uptiers, cheater (blatand or clever ones), unfair maps, the curse of big boosters, broken vehicles, ghostshells, etc.
You have a near 100% chance to be haunted by atleast one of those things every match.
So be thankfull to sealclubbers, because they prepare you for what´s to come in this game.
tbh i'm tired of games that mollycoddle noob players, we were all in that position at one time, playing against more experienced players is good for noobs if they're smart enough to learn from it. Its like the people that cry about CAS, if you're smart you can mitigate the risk of getting killed constantly, stop doing the same thing over and over again, then crying like other players are the problem. I'm a mediocre player in both ground and an air, but even I have an odd seal clubbing round every now and then. Its not like its something that happens all the time just because you reach level 100.

No no no you dont adapt and learn what you can do better you rush to the forum to intruct the developers to change the game to your wishes.
I doubt many vet play lower than tier III if they arent starting a new faction.

I love how they have time to wait for queue but doesn't have time to learn the game.

Their major issue was level 100 have map knowledge when they can do that themselves in custom matches. He knows the problem to himself and can solve it by himself but yeah why do that right?
I am level 100 but still don´t know the maps. Am I allowed to play anyway?

there is a reason why most semi competitive games nowadays all have some sort of MMR system. statistics have shown that games with an MMR system have better player numbers overall.

BUUUUUUTTTTTT i dont think war thunder needs an MMR system tbh since its pretty casual. what it 100% needs is more decompression atleast in ground, 80% of games in germany 9.3 are full uptiers meaning its a dead BR.

Nothing stops you from gaining map knowledge, watch youtube videos, set up custom missions and just drive around, you have the means at your hand you just need to use them.

And I don't know how often it has to be mentioned until the message is understood,

Level 100 means nothing but time spent playing and it doesn't even take into account which modes were played. I can be Lvl 100 and excel at naval but, playing no ground, will be defeated easily in ground by every newbie, or "seal".

Gaijin repeatedly said there will be no skill-based-matchmaking (same as there will be no ground without CAS), and even if it would be introduced, one can get around it by starting an Alt-Account.

Learn the game, learn the maps, learn the mechanics, learn the tanks, same as every other ground player.

As someone who has played tons of live service games and online games the real reason why they have MMR system is a way to increase the difficulty and make the fight more engaging despite the tons of repetitive gameplay feedback loop like DOTA2, League of Legends and many more as an example.

This is why DOTA2/League of Legends has the same map all over again. There's no real progress here, you're playing hours for nothing and being reward nothing that's why MMR is the result for this "progression" system they have for a cycle loop game. CS:GO also has an MMR system but includes variety of maps since people just keep blocking and abusing the same spots.

In War Thunder, it doesn't apply that way. Not all games needs to have MMR system because one is incapable of doing something. Minecraft, DayZ and other games out there doesn't need a skill based match making system because you don't know how to play the game.

If they're going to add skill based system then we're gonna have rank based games and even rank rewards for a vehicle. It's going to add more FOMO and another split queue.

Other vehicular combat games like DCS World, World of Tanks/Warships/Warplanes doesn't have any MMR skill based match making. Why War Thunder needs to have one? Wherever what game you go it's clearly going to be a "you" problem.

Yes, they do have MMR for tournaments and War Thunder has one too but you're not playing for a tournament as a new player. MMR skill based match making is meant for actual tournaments to begin with to put on a show.

So I can’t play my favorite armored car because it’s too low of a BR. Cool, like I didn’t buy it for $50 or anything…

wow its almost like you didnt read my comment fully. i do agree with you that MMR for war thunder would be kinda pointless. one way they could maybe stop people from seal clubbing is that they block lvl 100 players from tier 1 unless they start a new nation. but then you would have people crying around. personally i never cared about lvl 100 in low tier.

and you didn't read mine either.

I gave an explanation why MMR was put into semi-competitive games.

League of Legends ranked mode started in 2010.

I think its pretty clear they dont want an e-sports product which means that there will always be seal clubbing.

There is really very little reason to go back down to rank 1 for experienced players unless it is to start a new nation. Even then, it takes maybe an hour or two before one reaches rank 2 anyway. :mortis:
