HVAR i believe is alot more deadly (more explosives)
and once you fire off HVAR, they dont continue to weigh your aircraft down...unlike the m8 bazookas

I do think the bazooka rockets travel faster and possibly straighter though, whihc would make them a lot more useful against aircraft.

I beleive the HVAR rockets impact your performance more but once they are all fired you perform normally again. While the bazooka keeps impacting you.

My experience is the bazookas fly straighter and thus more accruate, but the tubes keep giving your the weight even after firing.
As most have said; the M10 Bazookas are quite accurate with very little drop, but they don't have quite as much power and the tubes will give you increased drag since they don't get discarded. The HVARs on the other hand drop quite a lot, but make up for that by being far more potent.

But the M8s still kill if they hit, even with only one, right?

And I'm not sure about if this is a bug or not, but I can't select rocket activation distance for either of them.

i guess so but i think theres a blast radius to consider...say you were going on a ground run on a tank or something
it'll be easier with a larger blast radius, right?

Rockets can kill ground units? I know I've killed pillboxes with it, but tanks?

It's actually easier to kill tanks with rockets than pillboxes as long as you can hit them. I've also knocked out destroyers with about 6 or so rockets.

I've killed a destroyer with a 211mm German rocket, btw. + Almost impossible to hit tanks with rockets; they're so small.

it gets alot easier once you learn which rocket fires off first
ei: one left rocket goes first, aim your aircraft alittle to the right of the target...fire
if you miss then aim to the left of the target quick with rudder...fire
it becomes 2nd nature after a few tries

I.E.*

Haven't got even hits.

When going for tanks, I usually shoot at least 4 or 5, the P-47 is the plane I have the most luck in anti-tank rocket kills.
