F-117A as a new player?
Hey guys!

I was eyeballing this game for a while and I recently learned the F-117A is added. I'm a huge fan of this, and I'd like to tgry it out specifically to use this vehicle. However, I heard there's a terrible grind associated with it. Is that true? As a F2P player how long would it take to unlock?

Bonus question: I'm a huge abrams fan. If I began playing WT as a F2P player how long would it take to unlock an M1 Abrams?

I feel like this is the type of game I could full-send myself into, but I'd like these questions answered first, thank you so much. :)

The F-117 is a squadron vehicle if I'm not mistaken. That's different than the usual grinding.

Also, there is no way to answer "how long to unlock" questions. Everyone will be different. How good you are, the amount you play per day, and many other variables will lead to different answers.

It's like asking a room full of people how long it takes to get to work. Everyone has different commutes and methods of transport, you can't base your answer off of theirs.

The F-117A is a squadron plane so you earn it by earning squadron points. Or, you could just buy it for GE>

To put it bluntly the F-117A is pretty dam useless, it only has 2 hardpoints and a choice of 2 bombs and no guns or flares of any sort to help defend itself. It's also a squadron vehicle so you either pay just over 7000 golden eagles for it or join a squadron and grind it our for free that way but it will take at a minimum of 60 days if you get the full 20,000 squadron research every 3 days.

To get the Abrams..how long is a piece of string? At a guess a couple of months of grinding if you only play US and put a few hours in a night etc!

Well I feel like you could get a general answer.

If you asked me how long it takes to max on RuneScape, even though there's wide variance, I could at least give you a good guess, at least. To be blunt, this is a pretty unhelpful and useless non-answer and I'm not really sure why you even pitched in.

It’s a squadron vehicle so not acquired like normal grinding, your squadron, essentially this games version of a clan, contributes to its research but it will still take a couple of months minimum with an active group

You can buy it straight out for real money but I would not advise that…

Mostly because it is an utter piece of garbage, the nighthawk is a highly specialised piece of kit meant for very specific missions, in warthunder you will be flying your stealth attack aircraft in broad daylight with hostile aircraft able to see you with their mk1 eyeball and gun your lame duck down in their much faster aircraft with little effort

there are people that max out a tree in a matter of months by buying an expensive premium and playing like it’s a job and they have no social life. There are people with much healthier lifestyles that have played for years and haven’t maxed any tree

Take your pick, how much of a no life are you, there is no right answer

Thank you for the answer. I really appreciate it.

Is the A-10 similarly grindy?

Because there isn't an answer.

If you play poorly 8 hours a day, and someone else plays great 2 hours a day, those people are going to unlock things at very different rates.

Grinding aircraft out is much quicker if you just play air battles, you will probably get to it quicker than the Abrams imo. There is a premium A-10 you could buy if you're really after one asap but if you do at least wait for the sale in December to most likely get it for 50% off.
Edit:The Ff117-A has a few more bombs that I though as the test drive only shows the 2 stock loadaouts but its still limited to 2 bombs essentially.

That's the thing about Squadron vehicles.
You can buy it. Real cash, immediately.
You can never join a Squadron and never get it.
You can join a casual squadron and it might take years.
You can join a grinding squadron and maybe get it in months.

But the entire question is kinda moot as any other squadron vehicle in the game would serve you better than the F-117.

I gotcha thank you for the answer :)

If you are playing full f2p prepare to waste somewhere between 1000 - 2000 hours.

F117 is a bit of a joke in the game. Its pretty trash. Literally just play the a10 at a higher br instead.

I gotchu homie! It'll take around a year if you're a casual, 3 months if you are a tryhard global elite player, and 6 months if you're the no life guy who plays only this game.
Oleg Jughashvili Nov 20, 2024 @ 11:03pm
you will get bored of the game long before you grind out either on free to play
playing bombers in air modes are kinda free kill for fighters lol unless the supposed "bomber mode" wasn't a bug or mistake
Shyue Chou Nov 20, 2024 @ 11:24pm
If you are aiming for that first Abrams model, and not grinding out the rest of the US ground tree, I will say 8 months to 12 months if you play 2-3 hours daily.

P.S. You probably have to go down two branches of the tree to get enough vehicles to reach rank VII.

Just estimates.
