well there would be a lot more players just due to the reasons OP described. the matchmaking is awful (not only in naval but that's the topic here), especially the br range above 5.7. and they insist on having these big battles (on mostly way to small maps) instead of allowing 5 vs 5 or sth like that. so the queue times are artificially inflated, which causes more players than necessary to stay away
Pretty sure I even saw you in a couple of matches assuming your in game name is the same with a number tacked on the end
I would have been the guy running around in a pr206 and pr206m capping points

Sure it kind of works but it is amazingly boring. Point. Click. Kill. Die. Repeat. That's why no one plays it. The submarine event was fun and more game play along those lines would add life to this game mode but WT, for whatever reason, and it's probably some midwit with a strongly pushed bad opinion in the organization, won't implement game play like that event.
