Creating a custom skin (need help)

Big newb bewb here, I would love to create a custom skin (yes, I have looked at multiple tutorials and know how to open and edit it). The only problem is when I try and create it, I can't tell the difference of where most of the parts begin and end. It just looks like one giant mess of colors and it's confusing to say the least. I guess what i'm trying to ask is there any pictures of a plane but all the parts are outlined. The plane i'm plane i'm trying to edit is the F4U, fyi.

There was a thread on the official forums which contained blank templates for planes but since 1.53 rolled out the templates became outdated.

Praps you can find some new blank templates on live.warthunder?

Most of those templates still work. I've used quite a few of them lately.

Ah, okay. Then perhaps they are broken for the vehicles that actually had their models changed.

I think that's the case. I'm still using some of the old skins from before. I think by default they simply marked them all outdated on Live as a CYA policy.
