The game is marketed solely by modern vehicles, so most people come for the modern vehicles. Getting to those will take either lots of money or lots of time.

back when I started playing the game they marketed it with the maus... then they removed it from the tech tree >.>

I have a Maus and I understand it is offered every year for players that don't already have it.

tho there's really no way to use SL to speed up your process in the game... outside of when they sell SL crates that give boosters.

I mean, that doesn't change the fact that an advertised TT vehicle effectively became an event vehicle. A reoccurring one is better than a one-off, but still.

The more money a person has to throw at a game, the less likely they are to have the time for insane grinds. And 45k every 2 days is an insane time commitment for anyone that can't routinely get 2k score per match.

ya, it was probably the most lackluster "event" vehicle I've ever seen... there's like 20 yaks in the soviet tech tree I already hate.

The more money a person has to throw at a game, the less likely they are to have the time for insane grinds. And 45k every 2 days is an insane time commitment for anyone that can't routinely get 2k score per match.

I agree if it is 45k in air or ground. In naval it is easy in 2 days (I did the 35k one in one day every star) Since there is that 2.2 modifier. 17.5 k when you earn an actual 3k mission points per battle is easy. Players who do 3k or more per ground battle likely find the 45k easy when they have 2 days to do it. Doing the naval event 35k I usually finished the event before I finished my daily/special tasks.

OK I am not saying anyone should buy the Battle Pass. But go look at the challenges. They are not very difficult. Some are ones I will not do but other players would do the ones I won't and not the ones I will. But at least half can be done by anyone. Daily special tasks are the same some are amazingly easy while others for me are impossible.
Most events boil down to doing what you would always do if you are an every day player. If your a once a week player then events are not for you. I think we can agree one of the reasons the game does events is to increase player participation. As a reward you get a toy and they get increased traffic.

Can you play the game without paying to access it?
Yes

there for it is free to play, This does not mean there's not Payment choices to make the game easier. But you could make a new steam account and play war thunder without paying a cent. Is it easy? no, Prem offers a ton of aids, and prem planes,tanks,ships offer a quicker way to grind.
