U can go back to lower teir and work ur way up and see how people around u play how they fight u. U can lern just harder if u go stright to jets
He is actually how I found War Thunder even though I never tried to fly a fighter. I have no clue why he is no longer around I hope he is alright.
and its like others never lose speed. and i feeling like only flying in second gear.
For example some aircrafts favors striking enemies from above and then climbing backup. Rather then commit to a turn fight which they are likely to loose against other fighter aircrafts.
Then you should learn maneuvering. For example enemies which are attacking you from above and out of reach. Then you should drag them down to ground level where they are within reach of your teammates and try fly underneath them to create steep attack angle so they have to pull up early or risk slamming in to the ground trying to get you.
Also, remember that most early planes you fly are shooting ~7mm bullets, which don't typically do a heck of a lot of damage to the body of a plane, especially something chunky like a bomber. That damage can still add up and weaken the plane's flight characteristics, but if you really want the kill try to hit engines and/or the pilot. Against fighters, that generally means you want to hit the "top" of the plane, either by diving down or by being behind them and hitting them as they turn.
sooner or later you will spawn in just the right moment and take that high LVL player in 1.0br maybe even getting eye for n eye if he got you the first time.
Try getting the hang with aiming and controlling your plane in there and once you feel confident enough jump back to air rb and applying what you've learned
Also watch defyn I guess
Do not attempts to dogfight enemies with bombs or rockets on your hardpoints : you are flying a brick and will lose a turning fight right away. If you really have to fight (often enemies far outside a furball do not come around after a 1st pass as they want to continue to ground attack locations also ) drop your load to make yourself lighter. You still ahve more drag then a air-to air configured fighter though, so better avoid confrontation untill you have a score bombing or strafing.
Fuel = weight. Do not take too much of it, do not take too little of it. With a full tank your plane is a brick. With too little ( although this is mostly in afterburner jets ) you will have to glide back to the airfield, or crash land. Taking drop tanks may help not have unwanted weight in dogfights, while having enough to climb to altitude.
Landing or crash landing : this always prevents or reduces repair costs, that get really high with BR. So when out of fuel not making it to the airfield : try to land in some open field while you still have speed and control. When being shot down, eject when you can. It saves some "repair" costs.
When you get to the point you get pretty primitive AIM 9B sidewinders chasing returning to their airfield players is a good use of those missiles, especially if they are out of flares or have no flares at all.
If you are intercepted on your way to the target - despite a detour avoiding the furballs - try to gun down the target head on. At least then you have chance to get a (counter) kill and may even survive. Evading the incoming enemy ( or wreckage ) is a thing though. Very experienced players fire outside of 1 km and then evade, as their munitions is still going to hit you. When you get experience you expect that and lead fire into the direction they are evading.
Landing and taking off offers a small reward too, so return to the airfield when damaged or out of secondary munitions. Use the airfield with AA in RB realistic as many will try to kill you on the airfield.
And even when you want to enjoy air-to-air combat, generally avoid furball fights. Climb above enemies and dive on enemies outside the furball, but keeping a close eye on critical speeds, as you can rip your wings off going too fast. Since with all but the most modern jets you have no assisting reticule you have to aim where the reticule would be where it Air Arcade. A lot of jets offer some primitive computed reticule gunsight IN the cockpit though, but it will be more difficult to keep track of where the enemy goes.
Why not going in furball ? Sure you may kill 1-2 or even multiple enemies thundering right through a furball, but you can be sure multiple enemies will lock onto you as well. A sensible pilot ( realistic, wants to fly back in one piece ) will want to limit the number of enemies attacking you.
In a lot of RB realistic there are also AI planes flying around., they have no player name. These can be fast, but the generally behave like dummy targets. They are a great way in a low threat area ( away from the furball, or when the furball players annihilated each other ) to practise gun skills or use primitive IR or SARH missiles in RB realistic mode. They reward less, then a player air kill, but still yield rewards.
In propeller planes and early gunfighter jets trying to do air combat you should be higher then your enemy. In bombers you either fly treetop altitude use every feature of the terrain to not be seen, or you climb up to really extreme altitudes NOT flying to a target directly. Take your time climbing away from enemies. Most enemies will climb up when you are at mediocre altitude., so that is useless. Very few will want to spend minutes climbing ( minutes of not getting a score ) when you are really high, and may not even see you unless they deploy a kill mission. In RB realistic bases respawn after some time ( as they will often be flattened by players flying fast and dying fast ) so you will still have a chance to bomb, but furball IDIOTS may have caused the match to end before you get there. In return furball IDIOTS may have the opinion bombers are not helpful to the team. However getting killed without a score ( especially in stock or inferior uptiered planes ) is not interesting for you, so they can screw themselves.
When you get to advanced jets with radar missiles you should fly treetop alt again, unless you have likewise ranged missiles and know how to throw off doppler radars and IR missiles. ( comes down to flying sideways from the incoming radar source, or pulling so much G in a turn/rolling dive the missile cannot follow you. The more mdern the missiles is, the more G it can pull and the less it can be fooled by countermeasures though. Flying treetop altitude, hiding behind terrain elevations makes a lot of high altitude launched radar missiles fly into the ground.
In short :
- Fighters - higher then your enemy, unless high BR jets, dive down and climb back up when attacking, keep your speed but do not exceed maximum speed or your wings be ripped off. Do not get lured into extended turn battles ( furball ) as you will lose speed and get shot down. ( only exception are very low BR bi and triplanes ) Try to remember where you would aim in Arcade battles, some planes offer a calculated gunsight IN the cockpit.
- bombers, multirole fighter/bombers : either hug the terrain, use the map sides and never approach the target in a direct line. Try to not be seen, OR take your time climbing to extreme altitudes away from the furballs ( so NOT go straight to your target ) but when attempting to bomb that high you should have a bomber sight or laser sight. Fighter/bombers may opt to go into an air combat role when they released the weight of bombs and rockets, and especially enjoy the fact that by that time enemies will be returning to their airfield out of munition, jammed guns, low on fuel or out of counter measures.
