There is no endgame anyone can start at any time.

Well...theres still fun to be had, but expect a longer grind then people experienced in the past.

The game is fun ... some players aren't :). They just take the fun out of the game ...

Which is nuts, grind was nuts before whatever they've done now. (Lowered income for the like 4 or 5th time in a couple of years, i heard)

Not worth it if packet loss still is a thing

If kill/assist system isn't fixed yet (broken in 2018 for air)

In my opinion. grind is too steep and made worae. last i played, about 1.5-2 years ago war thunder was in a state that i would not recommend it to others. I haven't followed what happened in the last few, but i saw no signs of gaijin listening to the most common and easy to fix critique up until then.

Bad economy (can be worked around), but stupid high grind, & compressed ratings/matchmaker on in the later parts of the title (50s jets going up against 70s jets with superior weapon systems etc)

Read some reviews, why not .. see what they say.

That said, it is a decent title, but a weak 6/10 imo due to the management of what used to be a great game. (For planes, tanks are as fun as a walking simulator, boats ok but bit ruined by the stupid high grind) used to recommend war thunder (planes) a lot but can't do it in good faith anymore, maybe the things I mentioned has been fixed finally.

No. Just dont. I am serious. I love this game, have played it since release. But right now the game is in need of changes to the economy. Current game economy (Grind, crazy grind) is designed to make people shell out money to progress, which I will never support.

Honestly? You should start sooner rather than later. Grind will probably only get worse the longer you put it off, especially since War Thunder will probably be "live" for another decade or so.

Yes you should play. Just go into it knowing that you won't be playing modern vehicles anytime soon, and that they are unprofitable (in general) to play. If you're a weirdo like me who just wants to stick to the ww2 stuff, it's a blast.
GreyViper Feb 13, 2022 @ 11:47am
Sure, you can start when ever, it does not really matter. Besides they keep adding stuff so you see more new stuff in future.

Low tier is fairly fun and cheap enough to grind out. Just don't expect to hit modern tanks and jets without a long, long amount of time or real money.

While everyone seem to talk about the terrible grind or Gajiin not respecting players in one way or the other, which is true lol In this game, you die in 90% of the time in 1 shot plus you are limited to 3 respawn(arcade mode). This is what drive alot of players away imo, many of my friends liked the games but could not stand either being 1 shotted or not being able to respawn indefinitely like in most games. If you're really into war vehicles, sure go ahead otherwise you might get frustrated by the game mechanics...
It... depends. You'll have a lot of fun at lower tiers once you get the hang of mechanics. A lot of older players will say low tier best tier. However, if you are like the majority of people seeing sponsored videos and seeing modern tank combat. You will not see that by the end of 2023 without buying a premium vehicle at that BR. The game, for pretty much most if not all countries, is a chore. Unless you buy premium vehicles, buy premium time, and commit to War Thunder. You realistically will not reach early MBTs this year.

Planes is another thing, I'd say you could probably reach early/mid jets using bombers, playing sim, etc. As for naval, I'd say yeah there's a decent chance depending on the country.

As others have stated, there's still fun to be had, especially at low tiers. Frankly if the WW2 stuff is all you're interested in then you'll be set, the "suffering" is more so in the cold war and onward content. Even then you can learn it, it's just a curveball and massive grind increase compared to WW2

This is like asking if you should drink water.
Foxtrot39 Feb 13, 2022 @ 6:00pm
Depends

The gameplay is nice

The entire economy and resrach speed is enough to make one quit the game but this issue start when hittign cold war era vehicle and onward
